knife edge?

I'm new to airplanes (coming of choppers) and started out with a mini funtana electric plane. Flys pretty good but everytime I try to do knife edge flight it pitches (toward the landing gear if I remember correctly) and flys in a circle if I could hold it there long enough. Is my elevator out of trim or something? It flys nice and level rightside up and upside down. SO what gives and what can I do to correct this? THANKS!

just about every airplane is going to have some coupling...it is very normal....

either you just need to correct it while you are flying... or if you have a computer radio (and you should;)) than you can mix it out....

ie: when you apply rudder, it automatically applies a bit of up elevator... takes a little while to set up, but makes knife edge much easier

I thought about mixing it out but won't that make it fly funny when it is flying rightside up? When you apply rudder won't it cause the plane to dive (or climb)? Sorry for the dumb questions!!! I can fly heli's anywhich way but Sunday and do every mix in the book but when it comes to planes I don't have a clue! Thanks

Do you use that mix all the time or is it set up on a switch for knife edge only flying?

maybe a bit...but you can turn a mix on and off... and if you set it up correctly it will help in other rudder manuevers

Hey thanks for the help. Could you also list some other common airplane mixes. That would very useful!!

Hmmm....

some use an aileron to rudder mix for knife edge too... that depends on the plane and how it rolls in a knife edge.
some use throttle to elevator to keep it straight.....

hmmm

some appyl spoileron/spoilers with elevator for a quicker loop, less wing rock in a harrier and quicker entry to hover...

there are many

RE: knife edge?

exeter_acres, you got to mean elevator > flap/perons) instead of elevator >spoiler/ons.. making a loop with an elevator to spoileron mix must be hard :D

pro2k, this pitch change is evidently common and s nothing to worry about.. just add some elevator when in knife edge.. i got the same behaviour in my 40size acrowot.

good luck! [8D]
