Article by Maynard Hill on Speed Configurations
I hope this works. The pages are in my account on Photo.net. I'll try anyway. It is written by Maynard Hill about fly at a speed trials and there is tacked on the end a shot of the world's speed record airplane. It makes for interesting reading. I'll leave the link for a couple of weeks.

Ben,
Thanks so much for your help with excellent infprmation. You are a terrific credit to this forum for the extra effort you give everyone! Simply great stuff I would never had seen anywhere else! Does anyone have other articles of Maynard Hill they would be willing to share? It would be interesting to read about his other record aircraft as well. Only being in the hobby for 6 years, I really don't know much about the history of Model R/C. Thanks Again Ben, Blue Skyy |

Thanks for the comments all. I bought the Model Aviation on CD's and put the on the computer. They go back to 1975 and up to Dec of 1999. A neat resource to have. It is a lot faster to scan for articles if you can remember what the page looks like. I wish the other magazines, MAN and RCM at least, would do the same. It helps make up for the memory going.
I do think they should throw out the Russian record, the first of the two way times seems just way too big. It is amazing what a friendly watch can do. |
