Airfoil data

There are many cites that give plotting coordinates for airfoils. Where does one find the charactoristics ( coef of lift, drag, etc:) with which to compare one airfoil to another ?

I think I had a couple others, I'll look for those links

EDIT. the second link will be all you would need I think. There are several links from it. I book marked it a couple years back and haven't really looked at it again. I'm in the design stages on a couple projects now so thanks for jarring my memory. I'll be refering to it a lot.

RE: Airfoil data

Search the NASA technical report server under NACA

report 233 - 7 frequently used airfoils in 1927
report 240 - NACA CYH airfoil
report 397 - 6 commonly used airfoils in 1931
report 460 - 78 related airfoils (4 digit series)
report 530 - naca 23012 in full scale wind tunnel
report 560 - 5 digit series
report 567 - naca 230 series
report 824 - summary of airfoil data

Or, if you have the coordinates, try using Javafoil,

Or you can download and then buy the unlock codes for Profili2 and that gives you access to a nice simple to use interface to the embedded Xfoil software.

Xfoil is unique in that it generates these plots based on a lot of testing at various sizes. The nice thing is that you can modify an airfoil and then check to see if anything really bad happens to the new version.

It's a heck of a deal for around $15US as I recall.

RE: Airfoil data

I'm currently searching for the coordinates for the NACA 67-008 airfoil. Does anyone have a package that will generate the 67 series data that could forward it to me? thanks.
