AeroWorks Stearman, I need to sleep!
Ok, I bought two Stearmans from Aeroworks a couple of weeks ago. I got one NIB and another old one they had damaged by UPS that I have repaired and recovering. I've been losing sleep over what engine to put on this bird. I want a radial engine and I"m debating between the 5 cyl 325 Saito and the 3 cyl 450. Since I live in the Denver area the extra power of the 450 would be good but the 5 cyl would look cool and sound great. The 3 cyl is $350 less than the 5 cyl. Both would fit since I'm not going to use the cowl. Rocco told me to go with the 5 cyl. Any of you have any comments? I just gotta buy one and get it over with so I can sleep! Thanks, Jerry.

You ever get your engine figured out?? Being at a much lover elevation(600ft), I'm pretty sure I would go with the 5 cyl, but the 450 might make a lot more sense where you are.

Ah, I bought the 5 cyl (that cost me a couple of nights on the couch!). The plane is done but I have not started the Saito yet. Gotta build a break in mount so I can get the motor broke in. It sure looks sweet though. Like I told the wife, its only $250 per cylinder!

Too Cool! I'm really envious......Just can't imagine a neater bipe to have than one with that 5 cyl engine up front. I just got a twin OS 160 to put on a Rascal 110, so it may be awhile before I get to launch into the Stearman, but want to follow your project. Hope to get to see some pics soon. If it's easier to email some, let me know and I'll give you my email----but imagine that others will want to see them too.
Congrats!

The Stearman I bought was damaged and was one of the original models that had the Chinacote on it. I stripped it down to repair the fuse, dropped the cockpit and put robart struts on her. Here are few pics, got some more work to do on the front after I get my kelo exhaust. Be another few weeks before that arrives.
