There should be no vacuum, as the wing sockets are not sealed. You will find that after inserting and removing the tube after 3-5 days of flying, it will get easier. The wing allignment dowels are probably your biggest source of difficulty. Again, this is actually a good thing to have a tight fit, and it will get easier with time. However, you may want to take a look at the holes in the fuse for the tubes and sockets and make sure there's no melted ultracote in them - maybe clean them up with an xacto - just make sure you are not enlarging them. These are laser-cut, jig-built planes, so the holes weren't cut to small.
I had the same difficulty as you, but I cleaned up the holes and just dealt with it for the first five flights and it was fine after that.

Hello Bodywerks did maiden flight today and this plane is absolutley a keeper. The Evolution 58 did not disapoint me it flew the plane like nothing was attached to it hovered, harrier rolling harrier, inverted harrier with no problem pull out was no problem.I did knife edge with no coupling ,25 acre long slow roll was just to easy.Landings were very slow almost walking speed. THIS IS ONE SWEET PLANE! BIG UPS TO AEROWORKS! oh yea I did balance at 3 1/2 at the wing tips thats perfect for flight no need to worry except for those dog gone wings didnt want to come off LOL. Thanks Bodywerks for time and help talk with you soon. Byron

Did you ever get an all-up weight? I don't remember you posting what other equipment you used.
It sounds like the 58 is a doable option, so more info on your setup might help some folks out.
Congrats on the maiden - makes me miss mine even more , but I will have it's big, big brother here soon enough to put that smile back on my face!

Hello bodywerks have the all up weight of the 260 came in at 22 pounds. The set up is as follows.Evolution 58 engine,1 duralite 4300 lith-ion duralite 6volt reg,1duralite 1450 lith-ion for ignition both batteries are mounted on the engine box.I Put 5955 hitec on all controls, use the smaller tank to save on weight, getting around 17 min on a tank way more than enough time for a flight.have 1.25" swb on wings and elevators, swb 4" with offset full arm for pull pull.JR 790 PCM rec,and JR 7202 for raido. useing recomended throws will do just fine.I fly imac and 3d. what I like to do is run 2 models on my radio one for imac set up and another for 3d. Oh yea im useing a evolution 24x10 prop turning 6950rpm. Hope this helps someone out there. God Bless Byron

I'm looking to get this plane with a DA 85 and I'm hoping to pick up a few things at the upcoming WRAM show in NY. What size spinner did you guys use and for the DA 85, what size standoffs if any were needed. Thanks.

4" spinner, no standoffs with that motor, it comes with a custom mount.

Yes, don't use standoffs with the 85. DA recommends it be mounted directly to the firewall for maximume support and less flexing. It will actually void the warranty if you use standoffs.

Thanks for the info. One less thing to buy. Wish Aeroworks was at the WRAM show. Could save some bucks on shipping[:@]. Any upcoming sales on this plane in the near future?

Also, I see there are two or three different mufflers for the 85. Anybody know which one is best in terms of quality and performance? Thanks.

Marty,
When you call AW, you will probably talk to Chuck when ordering. Ask him what kind of deal he can give you. It never hurts to ask. I did, and received 50% off of my shipping!!!

I have a quick question along the lines of the thread here.. Is it possible to mount or operate a DA-100 in a Aeroworks 75-80 cc? I'm curious if that is possible or even recommended.

I think it's been done, but your CG is going to be very nose heavy, it's nose heavy with the DA85...

The 75cc Extra 260 has Totally Unlimited power with the DA85.The 100cc would only increase the weight, wing loading and stress to the structure. It is Not recommend using a 100cc on this plane. Please give us a call if you have any further questions

Thank You
Rocco / Aeroworks
