Yes, I had no problems at all with mine, and no problem to the info on the manual. I was just suprised that the manuals had so much information versus the one that came with my model.

I set up mine with the ignition per the instructions on the plane, and actually, just looking at the plane sitting here, the receiver and ignition are pretty much at least a foot away from one another. I didn't measure it, but the receiver can be seen if you look in the canopy, which is well over a foot away(I am thinking just by rough eyeball) from the ignition. The closest piece of electronics are simply the ignition battery and the throttle servo. But, as was posted, I definately would not worry too much about it too much from what I have observed.

I have a enclosed a few pictures of my little model. :-)<br type="_moz" />

Has anyone put a DLE30 in the new extreme flight 78 inch extra 300. I am finding the distance from the firewall to the prop drive hub face to be a challange at 5.50 inches.[:@]

Tri-Power,
I live at 6000 feet. I believe it you are at lower altitude the 19X8 prop may be worse yet. If you recall, I tried the 19X8 when I broke the motor in. The plane would not stand still. Being that the motor was not broken in, I could only get the idle to around 1600 rpm. At a lower altitude, I bet the motor would be a tad bit more powerful, making the situation worse. That is why I suggested the 19X7 prop initially. When my motor is broke in, I will attept to try the 19X8 again. by the way, the 19X7 flies the plane with authority. You will not be dissappointed.

Now I will address Sewer Dude's words of wisdom....(This is a smart*** comment)

My intent was to inquire if you had read the previous pages. I believe several people gave great advice on a number of items concerning the build and many of your unanswered questions. I even answered questions earlier eventhough several people had covered them earlier in the thread.

Tri-Powers comment was right on point and I appreciate the vote of confidence. I am sorry if you were upset at the post.

I am sorry I forgot to spell check...did not have the time...had other higher priorities...(That was another smart a** comment)

You can do it. You will have to cut a hole in the firewall. If you want to get a good idea how it will look go to www.aero-works.net and pull up the build addendum on the 60-90 extra 300 with the DLE 20. I know it is not the DLE 30, but Mark Dennis did an excellent job demonstating on how to cut a hole in the firewall, construct a bell crank choke, and fixing the firewall.

You will need to get shorter standoffs to accomplish this goal, but it can be done. I routinely use hardwood dowells and coat them with epoxy. If you use the search RCU there are several posts on how to cut them accurately.

If you have not allready bought the plane, AW's 30cc plane is awesome.

Thanks for the information. I have purchased the plane as I live an hour from extreme flight and know the owner. I also have the engine and made a drill guide for the mount holes. I am an engineer by trade and an accomplished machinest. I have made one new standoff from aluminum for length verification and will make the other three. I realized that the hole would need enlarged in the firewall and that there will be some hookup issues but I really like the plane.:)

I do like using the lower pitch props when I can I'm not a speed freak and almost always use the lowest pitch I can that will still load the motor. I like to be able to slow the plane down. I'm basically at 0 feet and figured if the 19x8 was good for my alt. I'll pick up a19x7 and give it a whirl.

What kind kind of weight are you guys getting? Just read on the other site that his came in at 11.5 lbs! I was really hoping for the 10-10.5 lbs range.

tripower222 01-17-2011 07:08 AM

RE: 30cc Edge 540 build

I'm at 11 lbs 2 oz. with no fuel or decals. 10.5 would be no problem for a 2 stroke glow but I dont see it happening with the DLE 30. With no ingition pack or ignition battery and the motor itself, the two stroke glow will save 10 oz with the 160FX putting me at 10.5

Has anybody tried one of these with a OS 160 on the front. I am building one with a dle 30 but I have a 80 OMP edge with a OS 160 that is a little under powered and was thinking about the extra 300 when it comes out.

How many pounds of trust from the DLE 30cc?

RE: 30cc Edge 540 build

DLE says 18.5 kg at 100 foot above sea level. I doubt that. I can tell you that it has more than enough power to pull the plane out a hover and then pull it out of sight at 6000 feet above sea level. My plane weighs in at 10.9 pounds ready to fly minus gas. Hope this helps. If you are at sea level you will have a ballistic missle.

Silverwing,
Here is the PDF file of installing the DLE20 in the 60-90 extra. It gives a great overview of the process. It will be pretty similar to installing the DLE 30 in your plane. Hope this helps.

So I guess it will be around 11 lbs after all......Sounds like it still will have great pull out from what I've read on here.
Another question....I need to order a pitts muffler for the DLE 30...Jtec offers 2 different models for the 30cc. One is a wrap around pitts and the other is a large wrap around pitts. I believe Bemeson stated in a earlier post that Jtec makes a "special" muffler for the AW Edge? Just wondering which one to order.

OOPS I weighed the plane hanging from the balance buddy and forgot to subtract thr weight of the balance buddy. I'll repost an updated figure later when I get home.

Call Mark at Aero-Works 303-371-4222. He will get you the right one. I had to grind off a corner of the muffler to keep it from rubbing on my cowl. I posted a picture of the operation earlier in the post.

Has anyone ever had problems with an EMS switch. One of my EMS switches will not allow the battery to be charged through the charging port. If I plug my charge lead directly into the battery it works. I have used these switches for years without a problem. By the way the switch still functions with the exception of the charging port. I guess its a mystery. What a pain having to take the cowl off to charge my battery. I need to get this thing fixed.
