Aeroworks Extra 260 75cc question
I'm putting this plane together, looks nice and like a very easy build..Would a 3W78 twin cylinder motor fit/work on here? Thanks.

RE: Aeroworks Extra 260 75cc question
It will fit and it will work, but you will end up very noseheavy and probably be under powered. There is a servo mount for the rudder in the tail. I suggest you use it to offset the heavier engine.

RE: Aeroworks Extra 260 75cc question
I ordered a DA85, thanks though.

RE: Aeroworks Extra 260 75cc question
The 75cc AW Extra 260 w/DA 85 is a dream machine!!! You will LOVE it!!

RE: Aeroworks Extra 260 75cc question
Thanks, what size spinner did you use? I am running a 26x10 prop for break in then not sure? Thanks.

RE: Aeroworks Extra 260 75cc question
Pilot511,
I used a 4" spinner as per manual(Ultimate style) MR G |

RE: Aeroworks Extra 260 75cc question
Have heard so much about this plane I had to have one also, Spoke with Roco Yesterday and got everything orderd up, I will be doing the DA 85 with the pitts muff. I got a nice surprise when ordering, AW is offering 20% off the plane till end of Dec, that was welcome.
I have ordered mine in Purple, just have to many Red and White planes and wanted something different, I hope it looks as good in person as it does on the web. |

I don't think you can go wrong with ether one of them, I am kind of partial to Round cowls but really wanted the Extra.

RE: Aeroworks Extra 260 75cc question
pilot511, go directly to a 27X10 - no need for the 26X10. The best prop for that engine is the Mejzlik 27X10TH(TH stands for thin).
Also, be prepared to deviate from the instructions as far as where equipment goes - you need to put your rudder servo in the tail, and the batteries at the back of the rudder tray in the fuse to get the plane to balance. Consider a CF wing tube, as the stock tube is very heavy - it is plugged with a wood dowel in the center of the tube. You will save 6-7 ounces in a flash. Keeping this plane under 23 pounds is a goal to aspire to. In fact, mine was 21 pounds and I wouldn't have wanted it much heavier... |
RE: Aeroworks Extra 260 75cc question
Do you have a DA85 at 21? I thought the 85 was good for up to 24pounds aerobatic.?
|
RE: Aeroworks Extra 260 75cc question
When did the 20% off start? I just got a 75cc Extra from them last week and didn't get the 20% off. Thats kinda BS I'm even a repeat customer. Maybe my next plane will be a QQ.

RE: Aeroworks Extra 260 75cc question
I think it offically starts 11/29/08. That's why I was waiting untill next week.

RE: Aeroworks Extra 260 75cc question
They said that it officially was going to start on sat but would honor it with orders that came in the day I ordered mine.

RE: Aeroworks Extra 260 75cc question
would the 35% with a DA100 twin be better than this

RE: Aeroworks Extra 260 75cc question
I'm having a devil of a time finding a place to put the 2 receiver switches........the ignition switch is in front like in the manual, but I don't think you are supposed to put the receiver switches that close to the ignition....the only place I can find so far is just above the wing but looks like it will interfer with locking the wing pin with the cotter pin....I'm new to gas so that may be a stupid question...help please.

RE: Aeroworks Extra 260 75cc question
blue77,
I also had the same issue. I put my switches where you suggested. I can't remember whether I only put the front locking pins in or if my switches are far enough back to allow me to put my locking pins in the back. I haven't flown it in a while due to winter. MR G |
RE: Aeroworks Extra 260 75cc question
I used a Wolverine twin switch back between the two lightening holes at rear of the canopy. I cut out the wood between the holes and added a couple of light ply pieces with medium CA to support the switch mounting screws.
Its a 10 minute job. Hope that helps. |
RE: Aeroworks Extra 260 75cc question
I have my receiver and ignition switches mounted within two inches of each on my 75cc Yak and have never had any problems. With today's modern ignitions I don't think you have to worry much about any RFI problems, such as DA,3W, or the ZDZ. I have ran all three engines and never had a problem. Just my .02 cents. Hope this helps.

RE: Aeroworks Extra 260 75cc question
