Oshkosh 2006
Oshkosh 2006 was great. F-22s stopped by for a while. The B-1 flew a demonstration. F-15 were flying frequently. The Blue Angels stopped by for a few minutes. 2 B-17s, 1 P-38, 1 Lancaster bomber, 1 B-24, 2 corsairs (one in military makings), a bunch of P-51s, too many T-6s (and other varients of them) to count, 4 dragonfly hombuilts, tons of RVs, a bunch of canards (including 4 Quickies) were there for atleast a little time. It was my first trip and I have the strong ugre to build a kitplane. I'll upload some pics later today or tonight.

Nice pics, skier. I see you made it to the seaplane base which is always a must see when I get the convention. Couldn't make it this year and missed it badly.
Thanks again for the pics.

RE: Oshkosh 2006
To quote the July 31 issue of Aviation Week and Space Technology:
"Cessna's LSA was built only 10 weeks before AirVenture 2006, and was displayed without interior and instrument panel. "Building this airplane proved that we can still innovate" at the entry-level stage, Pelton (Cessna Chairman, President and CEO) says. Prior to the LSA proof-of-concept design, the smallest airplane in the product line was the Model 152, which has been out of production since the mid-1990's."
"Pelton stresses, however, that Cessna unveiled the LSA design at AirVenture as part of a feasibility study to determine whether the company should enter the marketplace. Reaction to the airplane will play a key role in Cessna's decision, which is scheduled for early 2007".
Elsewhere the article said the proof of concept would be powered by a 100hp Rotax 912. They would not give any estimates as to price or performance. Minimal use of composites and that the wing and fuse are conventional aluminum alloy.
So....
It's not decided if the plane will even be produced.
Stay tuned...

Visit SportPilot.org for more info on the SLSA's. There are some amazing prices on new aircraft these days, that Cessna is nothing compared to whats out and whats coming.
