Lipo Combatability Please Read
Hello, as you will know in a few seconds, i cam a complete and udder newbe. I am looking to get into rc. My main contender is a Probate Blackjack 26. On Probates website it says I need a programming module to run lipos. Is this true? http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/atta...579379&thumb=1http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/atta...579394&thumb=1 Here is the inside of the boat. I would appreciate an answer speedily as I am negotiating with the current owner of the boat. Again, my question is can I plug in lips in its current state and have it run. He says it has been tested with Nimh battery. Thanks so much

Please take a moment to study the title of this forum: "Airplanes-Full Scale" It concentrates on aircraft that aren't even of the model variety. It is possible some reading your post here might be familiar with lipo powered model boats, but probably not. You will most likely find an answer in the model boat (racing type-electric?) forums further down the list, and much faster.

The simple answer is yes. If you over discharge a LiPo battery just once you ruin it so the speed controller is set internally to cut the throttle or at least significantly reduce it as the battery voltage drops to a critical level when under load. It is called the Low Voltage Cut off (LVC). Some speed controllers will automatically recognise it is connected to a LiPo and sets the appropriate LVC but with others it has to be programmed in. |
