FA-18 Slides off Runway; Pilot Ejects with Minor Scrapes
QUANTICO, Va. (AP) - Officials at Quantico Marine Corps Base say an F-A-18 pilot suffered minor cuts and scrapes after his jet slid off the runway at the base's air facility. Major Wesley Hayes says the incident happened about 12:20 this afternoon. He says the pilot safely ejected from the aircraft. Captain Tim Taylor of the Prince William fire and rescue department says the pilot was transported to Potomac Hospital. Lieutenant Colonel Rick Long says the pilot was performing ``touch and go'' exercises when the accident happened. Long didn't disclose his name but told WFLS-FM that he's a reservist with Marine Fighter Attack Squadron 321, also known as Hell's Angels. The detachment is assigned to Andrews Air Force Base.
