General Skyfarer?

Aircraft regularly pass over our club field and they are usually Cessnas or other planes of little interest. But a few days ago a distinctive engine caught my attention and I could see a small plane approaching which had twin vertical tails. Of course I thought that this must be an Ercoupe but then I saw clearly that it was a high wing plane. I had time to grab my binoculars to verify that it was a single engine, high wing cabin plane with twin tails and fixed tricycle landing gear. I can't believe that this is a pre-WW2 antique Skyfarer. Are there any later planes that look like this? Location- southeastern Pennsylvania.

I probably was a General Skyfarer.

Here's a nice plan for one.

There were a few kit's too.

Wierd you should mention this. I saw a plane that looked like a P-38 the other day, didn't have binoculars, but swore it was a P-38 or something like it. Where i play tennis there are ALOT of planes flying over.

With maybe 6 airworthy P-38's in the world, there is not much chance that you saw one. The closest one that I know of to you, that is flyable, is in Galveston ,TX. at the Lone Star Flight Museum. Of course it is possible you saw one, just unlikely. If so, you were very lucky.

The P-38 is a twin and extremely distinctive.

You would never confuse it with any other plane.
