Count me as one of those statistics on RCG.

If you want a drama free radio that's easy to program, this one is it.

I have been doing R/C for a long time. To the best of my memory, this radio has had the least amount of negative comments of anything on the market. I have been fly Airtronics for a long time. I still fly a couple VG6DR radios. My Airtronics radios have always been trouble free. I have (2) RD6000 and a RDS8000 and soon a 10channel.

It seems that the people who have said negative things about the RDS had to really nit pick, the only thing I can think of is the battery. Mine works great. After a few cycles it seems to hold a charge better.

I love mine.

I agree. That was exactly the reason why I bought this radio even though I was "pressured" by my club mates to get a DX7. I really like mine, but most of all I like how drama free this radio is.

Hi all,

I am in the market for a new radio. I have an Airtronics VG400 and have had no problems in 5 years with it. But I have 4 planes, and want 1 radio to fly all 4. This radio is on sale at my local Hobby People for 199.99 with 2 recievers. But I still need 2 more, and they are 80.00 each. Just not sure if its worth it. Is there any other 2.4ghz recievers that would work with the RDS8000?

Thanks!

Got it, so far its great. I only wish it could display more than 3 letters, its hard to remember what they all stand for without looking them up in the owners manual.

Well Santa was real good to me this year. I found a RDS8000 under the tree. Yeah Baby. I may end up giving away a few of my other radio's. I have(2) VG4's, (4) VG6DR's, Radiant, (2) RD6000's The originals mot sport or super, and now (2) RDS8000:O

I think I will setup one RDS8000 with the switches for helicopters and leave one for planes. That should keep me going for a while. Now I just need to start the Rx gathering. I can almost fill up the RDS800 with helicopters. I have 7 now. I just need 5 more Rx's

I read this entire thread (not all at once [X(]) and told Santa that I would really like a RDS8000 for Christmas. Low and behold, I unwrapped mine this morning, along with an extra receiver (total of three). I have three Futaba radios, and I usually get stuck on a brand name, but this thread has changed my mind. I won't be able to use it for a few weeks, guess I'll have to suffer. Tell you one thing though, it sure feels better in my hands than Futaba 6EXA.

Hi Everybody! It's exciting to see so many people with RDS8000 radios. Remember that you can find the service address, email, and phone number as well as our toll free 800 line listed at the Airtronics dot NET website (remember, .net, not .com!)

The 800 line might be a little overwhelmed on Friday, but our services WILL be open Friday as well as all next week (except for New Years Day)

There are a LOT of people using the radio here of course so there's lots of 1st hand users with good advice. I just thought I'd point out that the service dept is open and ready to help you.

Oh, another thing.. the website has all kinds of tips Jack Albrecht, Skip Miller, and a couple of other team members wrote for special setups and applications for the RDS8000. So, if there's something you can't figure out on the programming, check out the website instructions section.

This has all been touched on before, but the thread is so long I thought it was worth repeating.

Airtronics, Global, Hobby People and I all appreciate your choice to fly Airtronics, appreciate the kinds words and support given here and behalf of all of us, I wish you a Merry Christmas (or what's left of it) and a Joyous Wonderful New Year!

Happy Landings.

Thanks Mike!

I know you wanted to send us all a "KISS" but to do so you have to mention the Quik Start pdf on your website. www.airtronics.net Click on manuals in tool bar and scroll down to RDS8000 QuickStart. I do like it simple and Jack has done a good job of just that for some of us who are stupid. Not really, but if I don't work with it every dayI tend to forget. I do have another 2.4 radio and find this one so much easier to deal with for the sport type flying I do. I had called Jack questioning usage of a 5 cell, 6volt battery because I did not find it in the manual and he assured me, not a problem as your r/x will work with as much as 2 volts. Needless to say, I had experienced a bad cell in an 1100mah pack. I'm a happy owner!

Mike,

Do you know a target date at which you can release the specifications and details on the upcoming 10 channel? I know you must get asked this question in many different ways multiple times daily. The magazines are teasing us with some enlightening snippets that whet the appetite. Just a hint please............ Happy New Year

Quick Start Guide! Yes, I have finally got those printed and we'll be placing them in the radio boxes in the near future. We're also working on a heli version of the Quick Start guide but unfortunately it was delayed. It's a nice piece that can be easily carried around in your tx case or tote so that you have it with you all the time

New 10 ch. We start the instruction writing process and USA portion of the testing the week after the AMA show (so in about 3 weeks). Japan has finished programming and has finished all of their bench and field tests. Now we have to do our part for the USA.

The goal is to get the radio out in March, prior to Toledo.

Thanks for the update Mike.

With the 10 channel getting close...does this mean that a Stylus module should be in the near future???

Mike,

Any news on what the price will be for the 10 channel.

Also, can someone point me to the spec sheet to the 10 channel?

The final prices and dates are simply not set. I'm at the mercy of Sanwa Japan and they are not yet ready to release some of these details.

We start work on the instructions mid-january and until I'm using the radio personally, I don't really want to release the spec sheet they've given me. At this point, it is too vague and will only create more questions instead of answering them.

As for the rest of the items, basically the same gig. I don't have the final production units so until then, I can't give exact dates.

Basically we're running about 4 months behind where we should be so instead of having this all done for January, the goal now, according to Sanwa is to have it all done for Toledo.

Many people in this thread have debated the Airtronics versus Spektrum. I have been using the RDS8000 since May and it has been great. I did win a Spektrum DX6i at our club Christmas party. I will use it with my Blade helicopters. One area that Spektrum has is all the aircraft and heli;s that use the DSM2 technology. Hopefully, there will be products coming that can bind to the Airtronics transmitters.

I finally got it out of the box and here are just some quick observations. The RDS8000 feels much more solid and is more ergonomic than the Spektrum, at least to me. Let;s face it, all the transmitters are plastic. The days of the aluminum Kraft's etc are long gone. But the DX6i just seems sort of flimsy. The battery cover case looks like it may need a piece of tape to keep it from popping open. It just does not fit that solid. I am sure it will be fine, but rest assured you did not make a mistake with the Airtronics..... And the Airtronics programming is sooo much easier.

Hi Mike. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to All. The Question I have is will the 10C have a small Rx option for park flyers? In other words is Airtronics coming out with a 2.4 Rx for park flyers?

This weekend I was flying my RDS8000 and my "OLD" RD6000, the original version, not super or sport. I have started to assign the RDS8000 to my fleet and re-assigning the RD6000 to other uses. I am making one of my 6000's to fomie planes and assigning the helicopters to the RDS8000. I have (2) RDS8000 now. One will have the switches placed for helicopter flying and the other will be for planes.

I am having an issue with the RDS8000's. My brother had the same issue. We both have flown for so long with this big antenna sticking out, that when we fly the RDS8000 we keep looking down thinking we forgot to pull the antenna out.

I know this may be a weird request, but the RDS8000 comes with (2) Rx's and hold 10 memory slots. How about a deal on getting 2, 3 ,4 ,5 6, 7, 8, Rx's in a package deal? Maybe save some money if buy in quantity? Looks like I will need about another 10 or so Rx's right now, I know I will need more in the future.

Economical receivers in different sizes are important and are planned for 2nd quarter 2009 at the latest. So yes, a small park flyer is in the works AND we'll have an economical 7 channel for those who don't need all 8 channels.

As for combo with multiple receivers, my best guess is at this point past the 2 in the box deal, that will probably not be available.

When the $20 off on the receivers occurred about a year ago I bought a case of them. That's what you got to do.[8D] Of course the trap in that is the next day they may come out with a better mouse trap.[:@]
