Another Drone Pilot does it Again
#3101
I have never flown a flybarless chopper (well, not outside of RealFlight,) so I can't really comment about their stability vs. multirotors. However, I do have more concern about irresponsible pilots flying the larger helis, given the increased probability of severe injury and death that these aircraft pose (as compared to multirotors.) Larger multi rotor aircraft can certainly do some significant damage to the human body, but nothing compared to a 30" blade spinning at 4,000rpm. I know of two deaths that have been caused by helis (one of the victims was a very competent 3D pilot), but I don't know of any confirmed deaths, or even severe, life-threatening injures that have been caused by a multirotor.

Maybe you missed my point any moron can plunk down his cash at Best Buy and go outside and fly one of the drones I listed in my post. He cannot do the same with a a collective pitch helicopter. That was my whole point. Large helicopters flown in aggressive 3D can be very dangerous I can't argue with that but just how many drones are out there in the hands of idiots compared to 3d helicopters? .

Hi guys,
Just got a chance to watch the video. I honestly did not see anything in the video that I had a problem with. He looked to be in a remote area and stayed pretty close to home. I also thought I saw another person there which could have been a spotter for air traffic, etc. I don't know if he was by an airport, but by the looks of his location it did not appear that he was. If there were small planes around, they would not be flying close to or in the clouds; at least not in the US and not without an IFR rating. With no airport around there would not have been any commercial planes flying through the clouds in that area. I know I am a complete minority in this, but I liked the video and thought the flying was done safely.
If this was done close to an airport and/or in a populated area, then I would have a problem with this.

Thanks for the reminder, they certainly can be!
Wonder how the folks who detest these things so much would feel if one was involved the recovery of a loved one lost in the woods, or if one was involved in spotting a fire and was able to relay information that proved to have saved lives. Would they all feel the same?

another interesting way of getting drones out of the sky. Of course the person shooting it down might be liable for the damages caused by the falling out of control drone, but details......

Actually, in the real world. An absolutely reckless thing like intentionally forcing a drone out of the sky would be an easy case for a first year plaintiff attorney if someone was injured as a result of that action. Not the drone operator mind you, but the person taking it down. Could actually give rise to a possible criminal charge of reckless engagement as well (deservedly so).
