Maybe the AMA should have asked the USUA for guidance .

Maybe you should have suggested it to them. I just read in another post that the AMA is an insurance company so how would they know about the USUA? Does USUA sell insurance too?

Seems like the AMA would have known this as they had already accomplished what the AMA was trying to do. Guess not.

Mike.

I know they know about the USUA. In fact pretty sure their lawyer has cited some decisions made when the USUA was haggling with the FAA.

I see zero different approaches materializing out of these forums.

From your prospective. I see a lot AMA members unhappy ( along with a few that are) with what is happening and looking for either a change of direction or a change in management. I'd love to be a fly in the wall in Muncie over the last couple of days.
Here's something to mull over.
Did the AMA know for awhile that this was not going to pan out in our favor? They painted a pretty picture of how it was going with never a hint of anything going south on this.
Was that the reason for the "deal" on renewing at the old rate?
Not a conspiracy theory Just something to think about.

Thanks for your valuable input
Mike

Really? Did you not see the thread that suggested new leadership?

IMO that would be a good start. The AMA itself is not broken, no need for monumental change, maybe just a fresh perspective.

Regards,

Astro

Suggesting and actually occurring are two different things. In order for that to happen folks need to step up and run for office. Has anyone new announced their candidacy for office? Not saying it can't happen, just saying it requires action, not talk.

Technically, it was a self inflicted shoot down.

Hoss was his own worst enemy. He made a bunch of enemies and they came back to haunt him, His ideas were not the issue it was more a personality thing that burned him. To get elected you need to be personable.

They need new leadership I suppose but IMO Horsefly would be in the opposite direction that they need.

Based on an email I just received, where they told me essentially that DOT walked in and declared what the solution would be, it certainly appears they knew. If so, then the renewal at old rate before the announcement does sound fishy. Especially when you look at their IRS 990 forms through 2013 and see that in constant 2013 dollars their membership dues were decreasing between 1 and 6 percent every year.

Things that make you go "hummmmm".

Maybe in a few years. But probably lack the modeling experience credentials. Not a pattern champion or scale champion or anything like that.
