This poll is misleading. I voted incorrectly.
I believe the poll should be deleted. Start over and correctly format the poll and question.
Typical Liberal poll ... Ask a question in such a way as a negative is a positive. Anything U have to read 3 or 4 times so U made sure that U read the real meaning in my opinion is Bogus.
The Facts remain that there's going to be another million NON Traditional R/C Fliers out there in less than 26 days. Nomatter what any pole says how people feel.

I say = YES
You say = NO
So easy, even a "AMA HATER" like me can figure it out...!

It was easy for YES voters, but not for those that would have voted NO if they could figure out what it meant. Hmmm.........must have been rigged to favor those possessed of at least minimal reading comprehension proficiency. Drat! I meant say to NO, it is not wrong that "AMA was either right or wrong." It has to be one or the other. Or maybe Yes it is not wrong..........I get confused. Stupid pole. Porcina is write.

I have just been contacted by another forum's member who tried to print our open letter to the AMA, and the petition to support it: he asked me to email them to him because they would not print properly from the jpg files I posted.
Here are the pdf versions of the documents for those interested.
I had a call from our local VP who is trying to move thing in the right direction.
I also learned that Bob Brown (president of AMA) is traveling to Florida this week-end to attend a drone race...never mind that the same week end is the Orlando Heli Blowout, second largest heli event in the US after IRCHA, but he will not be attending that one!

OK, BLO$ or AMA permitted FPV are all the $ame in public eye.Ju$t paged through December 2015 i$$ue of Model Aviation to find drone$. Found on 24 page$, thi$ include$ vendor ad$, etc. The pre$ident of AMA i$ holding one on page 6. AMA i$ a busine$$. It'$ all about money. And drone$ are a very big bu$$ine$$. They are here to $tay until big government can figure out a way to deal with. I am an old balsa builder/flyer fossil and don't have any interest in drones but feel strongly that those who do have just as much right to fly them as I have to fly my airplane models. Ju$t my opinion.

init4fun- I don't appreciate this disrespect from you. I've been a contributor to this forum a good bit longer than you have, having helped numerous new pilots get started well in the hobby and advocating for common sense and level headed decision making in every way possible. You cut the part between those two statements where I explained that the way the question was asked made it sound like the AMA did something that it did not do. I then went on to address what the AMA did actually do, which I think was the right move to make. If you can't understand the difference between those two things you aren't worth talking to at all.

What the question was "Do you think the AMA was right or wrong to embrace DRONES ?" But after the vote the question is "Was it a mistake or not for the AMA to embrace drones ? ", so the results are invalid because they were answering the wrong question!

My point above was that the poll question defined acceptance of drones as embracing commercial and BLOS flying. The AMA has never embraced that. It has actively distanced itself from that type of drone use from the beginning.

Are you even sure of what you are writing anymore?
Are you saying it's wrong to be out and about and promote the hobby to existing members? Please tell me that's not the case. Because I'm 99% sure there would be the usual folks crowing on and on about him NOT being visible and attending functions and events if that was the case.
Weren't you one of the folks complaining that the drone/mr/fpv pilots are not members of the AMA, and never will be? Say it ain't so....cuz there are plenty of them that are. In fact I think the pilots at that event have to be no? There are 4000 possible/probable and perhaps current AMA members in that SIG.
Between you and Islandflyer, you should start a letter writing campaign and attach an itinerary as to where Bob Brown should go in 2016, all the events he has to attend. Be sure to NOT include events with current members of the AMA though. Should be a short list. Will cut down on future complaints about all the money being spent on travel. Scribble it on a napkin and post up a picture, that will be almost as effective as the other "letter".

Yes I still believe we will not net a bunch of new AMA members from this. We have a bunch of SIG's how does this one draw in new AMA members? The whole racing thing is a niche thing and more than likely a tiny fraction of "drones" sold.
Sorry you can't grasp that.

I think AMA lost a great opportunity last summer when Drones interferred with Air tankers and other full scale aviation, I thought they should have put out a press statement condemming it. I called AMA and was told their publicity firm was handling it. Nothing came of a great(free) opportunity for showing AMA is about responsible flying and working toward that goal. I noted in the Presidents message (AMA) that we should take Drone flyers into our clubs, that met with a "tepid" response from our club members who already have to watch out for the several club members with FPV drones slowly flying thru active fixed wing areas, I usually stand-down and wait out the Drone, or go high and hope I can land while some drone is slowly approching, it does not work out well.............
We have times when most of the Heli guys fly and that has really worked out well for the past several years. We are a 90 member club.
I really do not think Drones will help bring new responsible members to AMA, WHY SPEND MEMBERSHIP MONEY WHEN YOU CAN FLY ANYWHERE FOR FREE WITH NO RULES?

To fly an Osprey, it requires more computer than pilot. Sorry, your stab is invalid.
Now had you said GPS guided, then I would agree.
The Anti "drone" crowd makes me laugh. First it was ban multi-rotors and now, it's ban GPS and FPV......
Now, a logical person would say require an aptitude test to earn a license of some sort for GPS guided remotely controlled aircraft. That to me would make more sense than anything.

The Question in the poll is really not a question, and makes NO SENSE...!! If I answer "Yes" what does that mean..?? If I answer "NO" what does that mean..?? Duh... OP must be an idiot or never went to school...

I was thinking air fuel tanker when I read that. But regardless, the AMA had more than one press release and/or articles. And many more on other incidents through the year. Check the AMA website.
