And this thread stayed on topic how long? If the mods locked AMA threads when they wandered of topic most would be over after less than a dozen posts LOL

This thread has never had a topic, hence the name "The Happy AMA Thread"

I just had a thought.
Is it possible that the worm and Speed have something to do with that thread being closed down? I seriously doubt it had anything to do with me

I don't think any of us had anything to do with the closing of that thread.

I think it had more to do with getting responses that were not perfectly in line with the OP's opinions.

If there's one thing about this sub forum it's that it never stays an echo chamber for long!

THANKS GUYS!!!!!! .... with allllllll the sarcasm I can muster up on a Saturday morning. Now I remember why I quit using forums. Way to screw up and derail a legitimate question/discussion about rules and returning to the hobby. It had absolutely NOTHING to do with radios and you guys took it there anyway.

May a weird camel spit on your sisters.

Good afternoon R_ Strowe ,

If you recall the thread from which I took the above quote , that OP got real testy and demanded his thread be closed by moderation for going mildly off topic , and as you see it's still not locked (I could not "multi quote" that thread's post into this thread if that thread had been closed) . I've cited that thread as an example of the point I'm presenting , which is that moderation here does not lock threads at the OP's request for simply going off topic , they lock threads that become knock down slugfests like the thread in question became . Had that thread continued off topic , but wasn't argumentative , it'd still be just as open as all the rest of the off topic threads around here are

None of us mere mortals will ever know exactly why the thread was locked. I suspect it had to do with a member posting screen shots of PM's between moderation and that member from a completely different thread and completely different topic. Thread-crapping that sort of stuff is about as inappropriate and as far off-topic as a thread can stray.

I know that on some other forums I belong to, the OP of a thread has the power to lock threads started by them, but to my knowledge that is not a feature here on RCU (I could be mistaken), so I will assume it was closed by a forum moderator.

I have no idea who or why and in fact, I'm not even sure which thread you're talking about.

SOP for mods is to add a note as to why before just locking a thread, there's no such post nor is there anything in the mod private forum.

As for OP's, I'm not sure but I believe they can close their own threads but I'm not 100 percent certain on that.

And just a reminder, I don't moderate anything (to include locking) threads in the AMA forum.

And, again, you show your lack of tact and judgement. I know for a fact I had noting to do with it. How do I know that? I ASKED!!!!

Maybe Speedy will chime in with some of his insight....he's been abnormally quiet after his drive by.

Since the "worm" is lurking in the shadows, we know he will chime in again.
Actually, his screen name fits since he's like a worm. He hides until he finds something to go after and then hides again

Hi Andy ,

As the OP of many threads here , I can tell you I've been all over the "Thread Tools" tab and while we have access to such features as adding a poll to an existing thread , we have no ability to close a thread we've opened . So , a mod must have closed the thread in question , the "No Fail Test" thread started by member "retiredat38"

And now , I'd like to take a moment to wish ALL of my fellow AMA forum posters a very merry Christmas and I hope tomorrow is a great day for you and your families

And to be sure , this IS "all inclusive" , meant for those I usually agree with a little , as well as those I usually agree with a lot , cause sometimes ya never know where common ground may be found

We are always worth responding to. You, on the other hand, are nothing to anyone except a worthless troll that loves to spew crap

And THAT, my friend, is the true spirit of the season!

Thankful for all of those here and hope that you all are able to celebrate with loved ones as you see fit. This is our first Christmas at home and without kids in about 15 years, so it will be a bit different, but relaxing and joyful nonetheless.

MERRY CHRISTMAS AND A MUCH BETTER NEW YEAR TO ALL OF YOU MODEL AIRPLANE FANATICS!

The wife and I are kind of the same way, nothing really going on for the first time in years.
That said, it's time to work on my projects since I've got the next week off and not much else to do, something that just isn't normal.
Happy Holidays everyone

Not sure if I should be surprised or not but not one post in any AMA forum thread all weekend? Almost seems strange

I think it's time to give my old thread here a bit of a kickstart, since I just got the 2022 AMA stickers. This time it's 5 stickers, one large and 4 small, and the large one has already found it's way to the TX case
