Uh, it's your club and you making the insurance claim, not me.

"
I was the club treasurer at the time we started that policy."

(The spin was first going to be around "group")

I don't give a sweet potootie if you believe me or not. Your claim, on the other hand, remains baseless.

I wish you luck on your search for insurance, please enlighten us with your findings, You might find a better rate than what we are currently paying.

Exactly my point. The official term is "sUAS" or "UAS". "Drone", on the other hand, typically refers to a multirotor. And their website references only "drones".

So I am seeking clarification from the source of each policy.

Well, I spoke too soon. Just got off the phone with Skywatch AI. Broker on the phone was very nice.

I presented a (question) about looking for potential alternatives to my current insurance method, since I now own a few acres. Spent most of the conversation explaining to her what a model airplane or helicopter was, how big, how fast, how heavy, etc. She had no knowledge of such things, only that they existed.

Although she was going to discuss this with her superiors, het opinion was that their product was not suitable for "traditional model aircraft or helicopters ". That being said, I do have calls and emails in to other providers, and I will hear back from her if she learns differently.

AMA is $75 per year, and if I add my club dues of $40/month, that’s $115 annually. Which is considerably less than the above private option.

I’m waiting to hear from Skywatch on how they cover traditional R/C, since their website specifically talks about “drones”, and only has photos of multi-rotors.

The FAA is deleting any reference to "model aircraft" in the regulations and adopting the generic "unmanned aircraft system".
I don't think traditional R/C exists as a category for insurance apart from drones.

Are you just being obtuse? It was posted above that Gene Simmons was able to insure his Tongue, back in the day, Brian Bosworth was able to insure his body from football injuries, and I told you (numerous times) that it wouldn't be likely that any insurance company would have an, "off the shelf" model airplane policy.

Apparently, you are not really interested in insurance for RC, you just want to spread the fallacy that the AMA is the only place one can get insurance. Insurance companies are like casinos; they will insure anything, just as casinos will take a bet on anything. You might have to talk to the actual bookmaker in order to place a bet on something rather obscure, just like you will probably need to talk to an actual insurance agent to convey exactly what you would like to insure, and then they will give that info to the actuaries to figure out the odds and come up with a premium.

Whoa there, cowboy. Short memory:

"Hate to be the one to inform you, but you sir, are a drone pilot!"

Said Astro to R_Strowe above.

We're talking about real insurance, not fairy dust, the 1/4 page image above for Skywatch. Their tagline:

We Make Drone
Insurance Easy

Yep. They do make it easy, for the typical MR pilot, and for a rather high pricetag.

I've not heard back from the other 2 companies I tried (Avemco and National). I take this to mean that they either aren't interested or don't have a product that applies.

If I hear back in the future I'll update that here, but as it stands, AMA is really the best/only deal in town.

I’ve already stated numerous times that it wouldn’t be likely that anybody would have an existing policy for RC.

It seems that those here really just want to hear, “no” more than obtaining actual insurance.

Or, these companies are simply not interested period.

Feel free to pursue this further. Me, I’ve come to the conclusion that very few, if any, are interested in developing such insurance policies, especially for a rate that is competitive with what we currently have. Being primary is not worth the additional cost, at least for me. I have to carry homeowners insurance regardless, so.....

And I am still waiting to see what Lloyds says, since they claim to insure any and everything.

For both politicians and insurance companies, it's numbers. If there aren't enough people to sign up for insurance, like AMA, insurance companies won't be interested. Same goes for politicians. Not nearly enough votes. Wouldn't it be nice if many government officials were RC aeromodellers? I can only dream. lol
