Okay, I've just read through this thread and find it kind of funny, if not ironic, on how it's such a great thing to get a waiver to fly up to 1200 feet. We've already been told how a certain person flies at over 400ft without a waiver so why is it such a big deal?
When I go out and race, I can't even put my boat on the water unless the club has a permit to use the lake/pond and can close part or all of said water, all in the name of safety. If I want to test my boat, I'm required to go to a lake where full sized power boats are allowed since many lakes have rules that don't allow IC engines to be run on them. One of the lakes we race on actually requires a permit to put an R/C sailboat on the water. I wonder how the AMA members would handle having to get a permit to fly for a day rather than just go to a field and fly?
