RE: AMA FEE INCREASE 2011
Fee increases come from 2 places:
Increased spending or decreased income.... or a combination of the two.
Why not just list the 5 biggest spending increases 2008 (report available) vs say... 2005,
combined with a lack of spending cuts to correspond with decreasing membership monies,
and say that caused any fee increase.
Any bets on MA and PPP being on the list of biggest increased spending?

I have not seen or heard of any discussions regarding increasing the current dues for 2011.

If they want to see the membership drop like a rock, bring it on. I'd say that they are already at the top of what people will pay. A lot of us have dropped club membership and are flying at private fields and using our homeowners insurance to cover ourselves. AMA is just for contest coverage.

When there are dues increases,
how much warning does muncie give the members?
Can we safely say there wont be one in 2011 because they would have told us by now?
Picking a hypothetical year like 2020 for a dues hike,
when would they tell the members... June 2019? Jan2019? In 2018 sometime?

Or you could look at it this way. The mechanic says your car will be done by the end of the day...he didn't say what day.
It's foolish to think the dues will stay where they are forever. Your power bill etc havent' stayed the same price either. Heck, you can't even get an engine for the same price you could 5 years ago. I don't see threads crying foul about that to the engine makers nor are there threads complaining about how much a new radio system cost. It does look like Lipos are getting more reasonable though.

I'm reading in this thread folks asking if they will,
and saying they havent heard they will,
and discussion regarding what causes dues increases,
and Frank taking the lack of hearing they will as proof they wont.
Frank,
do you have any actual info to share with the rest of us that they wont,,
or just speculating that since you havent heard by now, muncie wont announce it later this year?

Here is something else to worry about while we are on the subject. I just heard that there is another scheduled hurricane season in 2010.

I was an AMA member in 1960. I wonder what the dues were then (my library is out in the shop). Does anyone remember off hand? According to the cost of living calculator, $58 today was equal to $8.01 in 1960. I'm pretty sure the AM was ripping us off with higher than that dues in 1960, maybe $10 or $15[X(].

Love my Homeowners Policy.
It is what pays off the accidents FIRST.
Why would I Join AMA & AARP both are now cashing in on the good old days of honesty & value. Very high insurance premiums for whatever they cover.
I am old. Not stupid.
