I fly both at a local park, and my club field when we had one. Still looking for a new site but that's another story. If a club does not renew their charter I would assume they are deleted off the list? Other than that it is the responsibility of the club to update their info just like any other database. The same reason my doctor asks when I go see him if any of my info has changed since the last visit. They don't chase me for it though. As far as flying in the park with no limits that will change sooner or later as the whole FAA thing progress's and heli's are a lot more drone like than fixed wings. It's already happening where I live. With the size planes I fly who needs to go above 600ft? I also have a small lake nearby that I can fly electric float planes on, so I am still able to get some flying in even though my gas planes are grounded.

I have never flown a float plane. Something I want to do though!!

It is fun, I bought a foamy one and it is just a nice change to do spash and go's. My brother in law live very near Franklin and has his own private flying field just off his deck and he is still do busy to fly. :p

Very cool! I will probably pick up a float plane sometime in the near future. Now we have a source to spy on Franklin. lol

Eleven flights today on four different helos. Nine in the park on the 450's and 500, two more in my back yard on the 300. Since I live inside the 5nm ring of a towered airport, I have to call the tower. The good news is they guys in the tower have told me all they need from this point forward is my name - they said "it's clear you know what you're doing, just by how you talk to us."

I call that a win.

any day of flying is a win, :o

Now if I can just get MA to publish my article on "Best Practices for Airport Notifications" so everyone can have these go as smoothly as mine do. The guy I talked to today said he wished everyone did it the way I do - some guy called last week and it was a ten minute long "20 questions" exercise to get what they need to know.

Hydro Junkie 06-03-2016 06:27 AM

That's because they don't really know what information the tower really needs. That said, most, unfortunately, don't really do any research to find out either

Yeah. The article I sent to AMA helps close that gap...let's folks know what the tower needs to know and how to give them that info in the "language" they expect. However, haven't heard a peep back from AMA on using the article.

Well if the new bill gets passed as is (which is stalled right now). You'll actually have to ask permission from the tower every time the field is operating. Check out Chads latest video ( 3:18).
Just when does the tower just say no on the phone because their sick of dealing with it?

If. If history is any indication the bills won't pass as written, but more importantly nothing is going to happen on this until well into 2017. Still lots of time for great flying.

It's much easier to say yes. Declining a request would require a legitimate excuse.

Using the phone seems quite antiquated. If it comes to manual notification/approval I hope the AMA pushes for a automated request notification system. A smartphone app could automatically pass along all the necessary information. Then the AMA could monitor any requests denied by the FAA. I hope it doesn't come to that, but manually placing a call seems a bit ridiculous for all parties involved.

And, while I agree with you to a point, how many laws are still on the books that are no longer relevant in this day and age? IF you were to go through all the laws presently on the books and remove every one that no longer applies, you might find that roughly 70% are so outdated that they serve no purpose

I was referring to the process, not the law. You may want to have a look yourself, I highly doubt 70% are outdated and server no purpose.

Which bill? Only the Senate bill has such language. It must be voted by the House to be passed. The House will not vote on a Senate bill. They will only vote on the reconsolidated bill to be consolidated by committee. If it is stalled then things will stay as they are.

I'm confused as well. There was a recent post in another thread regarding miscommunication, I believe this is an example of what they were referring to.

Well, let us reconsider your statement. I have had a couple days of flying when I brought my model home in a garbage bag. Those days of flying were not wins, they were losses. :( LOL

To me, any day I can be out playing with my toys is a better day than the one where I'm home mowing the lawn

Depends on what you have for a lawn tractor. :o

Craftsman 17 horse with a 48" deck and a 21" 6 horse pusher for the tighter areas. You probably can guess which one I prefer:rolleyes:

A big deck is always better. Would love a nice zero turn or scag, my son wants me to get one. Lucky enough to have a young teenager who loves all kinds of yard work/landscaping.
