If any of my west coast friends want to say hello ask around at the AMA booth for Andy. If they ask you which one tell them the quiet one :) (or Griffith)

Hydro Junkie 01-05-2017 05:14 PM

I can't go, too far away and no vacation time, that I know of anyway.

Hobby People seems to be having problems they have closed about eight stores recently and I was informed they no longer advertise in local club newsletters.

tailskid 01-05-2017 08:28 PM

I see they are "giving" Magnum .91's away at $132.....but are not stocking parts......

Desertlakesflying 01-05-2017 08:40 PM

Was going to go but get to go to the cardiologist in at the San Francisco VA for tests instead.

tailskid 01-05-2017 09:15 PM

Hope everything goes well for you!

Probably go Sunday to see the FAA discussion.

franklin_m 01-07-2017 08:22 AM

FAA Administrator spoke at CES yesterday in Vegas. He's an appointee, so he's gone in less than two weeks. Will be interested to see what changes the new administration brings, especially in light of Shuster renewing his effort to privatize ATC.

HP doesnt go to AMA shows. They go to the RCX show

rcjetflyer0718-RCU 01-07-2017 06:15 PM

I have been going to the RC EXPO every year since 1985 (when it was still in Pasadena), except for 1993-1998 when I was living in VA. Since AMA bought it and moved it to Ontario, Hobby People has had a booth until this year. I went to the show yesterday and there were the least amount of vendors in the last 30 years. If it wasnt for local clubs and organizations the hall would of been 2/3rds empty.

twiztidbowler 01-07-2017 06:28 PM

Like I said , I went last year and HP wasnt there and havent been there for some time. I have worked at HP for many years and the only show they been going too is RCX

tailskid 01-07-2017 07:07 PM

Go will disagree twiz...because I talked to Mike Greenshields about a problem....

I guess that plane and batteries I bought last year were a figment of my imagination. Hobby Peoples booths were on the west end of the hall.

With poor reviews like this of AMA West, and with even fewer vendors signed up for the AMA East, why in the world should someone spend the money on hotels and gas to attend?

In the past there was always some form of coverage on various forums I can't find a single picture anywhere.

You want comments of those who attended....well my wife and I did on Saturday. The show was definitely smaller than in previous years and the isles were wider (which was nice) and there was some great opportunities for the young people - building rockets, rubber powered airplanes and of course driving on the closed course. I didn't take my camera because it is such a pain to carry around. Nothing special at the show but the busiest booth seemed to be JB Hobbies - he had some great deals going on and of course MicroFasteners - long line to check out. As far as 'deals' went I didn't see anything that required I make a purchase :) but I did look over the Horizon booth (pretty crowded) and inspected the new 30cc Ultra Stick-yes I would have bought one if there was one on sale. I was disappointed some of the larger mfg weren't there but understand it cost mega bucks to be there. Would I go back next - probably - but considering I was at the show from 10 - 2 it isn't the best use of my hobby dollars :):):)
