The FAA won't comment until the final rule is published.

as long as the build articles are actual builds, and not simple arf assy stories

Agreed. IMO nothing worse then an ARF assembly peice that doesn't mention the covering wrinkles, fit issues and then ends with " it only took a couple clicks of trim to fly perfectly ". Just tells me the author either got paid to do a fluff peice or hasn't a clue.

I agree. I'm utterly sick of reading their "puff piece" evaluations. They're nothing but paid advertisements. I want to see them reviewed by rank and file modelers, flown off WELL LESS than perfect fields, NOT off groomed grass, etc. In other words, real world evals not perfect world evals. In the flight test community, doing "perfect world" evals is a huge no-no. Everything is evaluated from perspective of Mark 1, Mod 0, pilot.

I all my communications with the AMA they never said a word about that. Go figure. All I ever got was "we're making progress".

Did you expect anything different? To say anything else is to admit they are achieving nothing and that would undermine the present administration's efforts to stay in office, something we all know they have to do as to be voted out of office would mean they are a nobody and that they couldn't handle.

Looking at the last EC minutes about declining membership and revenue you would think getting to work on this would be a priority. I understand that they are dealing with the goverment but come on after all the time and money spent on this crap you would think we would see some results. If they can't even get the feilds in Glass G airspace a exemption the AMA is dead. Maybe they should talk to the National Organization of Rocketry about waivers. I applied for and obtained a 14,500 ft waiver for High Powered flights using our club field.. I found the FAA very accommodating.
But what do I know????????????????????????????????

Mike.

Obviously, more about dealing with the FAA than the AMA officers and legal staff do. If you can get a 14.5K waiver just be filling out an application, that shows how inept the legal staff and powers that be are

I received my SEP Model Aviation today and in the AMA in action article they state they are in daily contact with the FAA and have a weekly scheduled teleconference. I have to wonder with all that contact what are
they discussing since we are hearing so little.

Obviously, they don't want non-members to see what the propaganda they are putting out is since, when I clicked on Flyer's link, I got this:

I have no problem with that and I'm one of those that questions a lot of what the AMA does. If your not a member why would you care? It's like voting if you don't than don't *****.

Mike he's not a member and has said many times he won't be a member yet feels he should have input and be kept in the loop of all things AMA. It is exactly these reasons the AMA limits certain areas to members only its none of his business. LOL even an associate member from Canada can access that info.

Dennis

speedracerntrixie 08-22-2020 06:20 AM

While I don't especially like the fact that a member appears to be sharing " members only " information with a non member who is could be interested in obtaining the information for reasons of malice, I have to come to the conclusion that it will do him little to no good. As stated previously what happens here in this forum reaches a very small percentage of R/C enthusiasts.

Hydro Junkie 08-22-2020 08:25 AM

First off, I don't do things due to malice, no need to. That said, a lowly worm doesn't need to see it any more than I, that is unless he wants to use that to make himself look better than what he is, a creature that crawls through the dirt and makes good fishbait.
Mike, personally, I don't have an issue with it either. It just shows that the AMA has things to hide from anyone that isn't a member or, to paraphrase your comment, doesn't care. I was just curious to see how the AMA powers that be try to spin their lack of success with the FAA and Congress into being everyone else's fault when others have no issues in working with the FAA and getting the desired results.
We all know the AMA is on the verge of folding and has become basically an irrelevant organization that's let it's own arrogance blind it to the actual facts of what's happening with R/C aviation and how times have changed. Franklin has shown many of the faults of the organization and how it's on the verge of "imploding", all of which has its roots in Muncie. It's just a matter of when, not if, the organization fails since the path the powers that be has set it on have pretty much insured its failure

ira d 08-22-2020 10:15 AM

I just think its strange the AMA is in constant contact FAA but does not seem have any real progress to report also if they are asking for specific things from the FAA that are being denied I think all that info
should be public knowledge. So when they print in the magazine that they are in constant contact with the FAA to advocate for the hobby some would like to know what is actually being accomplished and
what the FAA is telling them. I would also expect that if we needed to go to the AMA websites to find the answers to questions that may come up from reading the article they should have said that.

I did not take the time to register on the AMA website because I doubt there is a lot more info than we already know im sure if it was someone would have referred to it already in all the discussion
that takes place on the subject here and on other forums.

As a member of MAAC AMA has granted him permission to access that information. Hydro, as a non member of both organizations you have no permission to access that information. Those are the FACTS.

Could it be possible that the AMA has learned that regardless of what the FAA tells them, the end result will be something completely different and probably opposite of what was desired? In which case I would say it is better to not report anything other than "we are in constant contact with the FAA", as that would be factual. If/when they actually have something concrete and substantive to report I assume they will do so.

Anything is possible but I don't see any advantage for the modler in not revealing what they are being told be it positive or negative.

speedracerntrixie 08-22-2020 04:26 PM

LOL, I can just see the AMA making announcements based on what the FAA says will happen moving forward. Then the FAA for whatever reason changes their stance then the AMA comes forward and tells us that the FAA took the agreement off the table. Then what happens in this forum? Could it be that they adopted a tight lipped policy due to Franklin and Co. always finding something to cry about? Could that be the extent of Franklin's influence?

As I said. it's just curiosity. We all know that it's going to come out sooner or later so why make a fuss over it now? I would just prefer to read it first hand than have others give their two cents on it and be way out in left field in how they spin it.

If it can be verified, nothing will happen. If it can't, then who knows. Then again, you would need to look at WHY the FAA changed its stance:
1) Were they forced to do so by Congress?
2) Did something happen in the air that forced the change?
3) Did the AMA get stupid again and demand something that wasn't realistic?
4) Did something else happen that caused the change?
Until we know which one it was, it's hard to say anything

Ah yes the spin. Of course you know as well as I that absolutely everything they do gets spun on this forum. Example: They shouldn't be holding events due to the pandemic. Then a few weeks later point out that their national fly-in was a failure because of low attendance. Or shame an EC member for attending Florida Jets but not bothering to realize the country's largest swap meet was happening just 90 miles away from your front yard.

These examples are fact as well. Now for a hunch, there have been times when Franklin has been away from the forum for a couple weeks at a time. Could that because he was on travel?

Do you have an example of when the AMA got " Stupid " and demanded something unrealistic?
