It's easy to say these people are doing something, but beyond listing names, what are they really doing?
As a united front and voice, the AMA Coalition visited several offices today to convey our concerns regarding the proposed rules on Remote ID. Our government affairs team reported that our message has been well received. Please keep in mind, that the team has two additional days of meetings which include the House and Senate FAA Oversight Committees. When I receive an update I will certainly pass it along. The following offices were visited today; Angie Craig, Representative of Minnesota Rodney Davis ,Representative of Illinois Steve Cohen, Representative Tennessee Kyrsten Sinema, Senator, Arizona Eleanor Holmes Norton, Representative District of Columbia |
Interesting, I see Futaba listed on the site as a supporting member but missing is Horizon Hobby. Perhaps our letter writing campaign as individuals should expand beyond just NPRM responses and letters to our government representatives and include manufacturers that we do business with to encourage them to get on board with this new coalition.

I keep seeing where the technology to implement the remote id isn't even developed yet. I ran across a video today that shows that, if the FAA is so hot to regulate drones, there are systems available to them to do just that and to leave the rest of us alone. Check it out and see what you think.
Let the FAA foot the bill for the control they so desire! |
That system relies on DJI's version of RID and does not meet any of the provisions set forth in the NPRM. Basically we have seen the framework FAA wants to use. I doubt we will see anything but some small tweaks of that framework in the final rule. We are screwed, only the details of how badly remain to be seen.
