AMA is what you have to deal with and pay dues to to be able to fly at most club fields. If you like free flight, control line or any of the other fringe areas of modeling, you will only be to happy to get their magazine. It's also good for a cat litter box.

Ama????

The AMA is a not-for-profit organization chartered to promote/educate about model aviation. They do this in a number of ways you can find on their website. As one of the benefits you receive insurance coverage (secondary if you are covered by a policy such as your homeowners, or primary if you have no other insurance) which helps protect if your FREE FLIGHT, control line, or R/C aircraft causes personal injury or property damage. Having this insurance/membership allows you to fly at an AMA Chartered club!

Check out the website, find a local member to go talk to, and if you find you like what it has to offer join!

Why is it???

So MANY posts I see here say that for more info other readers should go to the AMA's web site to get more information about the AMA.

but nobody provides any LINK TO the AMA's web site so those who DID NOT KNOW THEY HAD A SITE /B WOULD BE ABLE TO/B find the AMA web site?

AMA's Web site link: www.modelaircraft.org

And that link is incorrect. It sends the neophyte to a .com, not .org address, and, in so doing, could discourage the searcher from further research, since someone already sent him/her on one wild goose chase.

Good thing you make toothpicks and don't have a job as a proofreader. Go back and read the first reply (#2) again. The address is indeed correct (both of them) and he will arive at AMA's website. Make sure you know what you are talking about before you criticize someone for not knowing what they are doing.

Perhaps you missed the part of his post where it says,"

If you'll check the time on my post, and the time on the edited by on Post #2, you'll see that it's you who need their eyes checked.

BTW, before you flame someone, know what you're talking about.
