AMA for my son

I want to buy a membership for my son. Can I fill out the online app and still charge it to my card?

How old is your son?

He's 31. We've done a couple of buddy box flights at my home field and he's decided he likes it. I thought I would get him AMA and a club membership his first year. Does AMA prorate for midyear, didnt look like it.

Dues received after Sep. 15 are valid for the remainder of the year and all the next year.
Other first time members' dues end on Dec. 31, however a credit is provided for the next year RENEWAL.

You could also get him enrolled as a student pilot after July 15 and he will be covered under that program till September 15 when you sign him up as a member. All his flying needs to be done with an AMA instructor and at an AMA chartered field though.;)

Good idea Vicman. Thanks guys. I'm one of the club backup instructors. Distance and work makes it hard for me to be there regularly so I havent done much training in my current club. Did lots of training in the other club though. We thought about teaching on a small electric trainer (one that I would choose) and buddy boxing at the park next to his house. But I prefer teaching him on one of my 60 sized trainers. It does my heart good to see his enthusiasm and desire to build.

Agreed, Vicman is right on. To gild the lily, you might ask the club to designate you as an IP instructor if you are not already; it costs 5 bucks. Then your son can fly with you under that program until Sept 15.
