Mark did contact via email a couple of days ago. He said he's out of town this week. But when he gets home on Monday he's going to call me and we'll talk more about getting him set up. I'll keep you posted on this issue.

I'm curious, if and when Mark comes on RCU, are you going to go after him with the same zeal that you're going after Hoss, or is it just a Hoss 'thing.

Do we expect that to happen to Mark as well?

If hounding for specifics to general answers is acceptable,
I'd love to get the details from Mark on a variety of subjects from Paintball to Senior Discount,
and perhaps a few questions to get the gritty details about MA, & the parkie mag

And what makes these questions any different then we asked Hoss? Most of the questions I've been asking him are the ones he's been complaining about the most. I for one would like to know what his feeling are about how he intends to fix the communication issue at the AMA. Well he says he won't hold back any secrets if he becomes President ... but sure is showing a bad example of it now, specifically as to why he wants a zip code and never once said he would only take questions from AMA members.

Hi,
I have no problems with him asking questions, but surely he knows that any politician will not get into specifics. This is nothing new; when Nixon was running for President he had a plan to get us out of Viet Nam called “Peace with honor”. When he was pressed for details, he said that when he’s elected he’ll reveal the plan. This type of response has been going on since the beginnig of politics, so Hoss not getting into details should not be surprising.
I asked the question because, like Hoss or not, he’s been here and has numerous postings; everybody has an idea of where he stands on issues. However, it doesn’t seem like these posters are all that upset that they can’t question Mark about the same issues.
If I were Mark, I wouldn’t come on RCU for the simple fact that the vast majority of AMA members could care less about this election, in fact, I’d be surprised if 5% vote. With Hoss getting hammered by STL, Bob and a few others, I’d just stay above the fray and hope that Hoss gets hammered enough so I’d get the” I don’t want Hoss so I guess I’ll vote for the other guy” vote.

The questions I've asked were originally asked of both candidates, posted in the AMA forum before there was any discussion of a candidates sub-forum

If Mark refuses to discuss his detailed plans becuse he thinks Horrace willl somehow use that against him;

If he makes the same type of contradictory remarks concerning his position on PPP;

If he refuses to discuss his leadership style and why that will or won't make him an effective EVP,

If he refuses to discuss any plans for increasing member involvement as a way to strengthen AMA and instead suggests that he doesn't have the time saying "I have far too much experience in aeromodeling to waste time on trying to organize today's aeromodelers into such a disciplined goose step;

If he refers to AMA as a socialist organization when asked what direction MA should move;

the answer is yes.

Ask away, I would say.

Specifics is what this should be all about. Which response would you prefer:
"I'm going to make things better" or
"I'm going to make things better, and this is exactly how I plan to do that".

You can't make an informed decision about whether John McCain's plans to improve healthcare are better or worse than Barak Obama's without details.

Actually, no I don't know that. During this years primary campaigns I thought most, if not all of the candidates were very straightforward in the specifics of their plans for improving healthcare, tax reform, energy, etc. Do a bit of searching on line and you will find details of the candidates plans for their primary initiatives.

You have no idea at all what my thoughts are concerning this. He's not posting here so I can't ask him, can I?

When Ken first announced the candidates forums I e-mailed Mark asking that he participate, and he indicated that he would be in contact with RCU management. That was about 10 days ago. Last night, having heard nothing since I followed up with RCKen here on the board. If he chooses not to become involved I will certainly have an opinion. I hope he does as it will be interesting to compare and contrast their answers.

Bob, if you think that you will ever strengthen the AMA through member involvement, you are living in a dream world. Sorry, but this path is not worth pursuing.

I just got off the phone with Mark Smith. He is going to participate in the RCU election sub-forums. Although, he is leaving for a family vacation tomorrow and will not be back until September 8th. He will come on to RCU at that time and will then make himself available in his election sub-forum.

If Algore could single handedly create the internet,
I dont see anything wrong with Mark being the guy that single handedly created & implemented the PPP
without the staff or EC.

But when he gets here you can ask him about that point in his bio,
and I can ask him about the Omahawks point in his bio,
and others can ask him what they want to know more about
