Pegasus glow ignitor

what are you guys using to fire the glow plug on a air start engine?

If you are manual starting, just a normal glow driver. Otherwise most of us are using an ASU.

We couldn't get it to start on a regular glow driver. I didn't know if you guys were making one to put out two volts to start them. I'll try buying a new one and see if it will get hotter than what I have. It did start using a fireplace lighter.

Yes you can use a fire lighter like that, just watch you don't get scorched a little. You only need about 1.6volts to glow the plug bright orange. Maybe you have not pulled enough of the plug element out. You need at lease two coils out the bottom of the plug. You can also try without a plug washer under the plug.

Well its back in the plane so I can't do the lighter trick now lol..yes two cois are pulled out and no washer. We may have just had faulty equipment. Lol. I'll pick up a new driver and try again.

Good luck. You can take the glow voltage up to 1.8volts, but should not need any higher than that. I normally use a Rossi #5 plug, but you can use any other plug with a reasonably strong filament.

BTW, it is a good idea to heat a plug you want to use first before you pull out the coils. This help not to break the filament to easily. Also make sure non of the filament touches the inside of the plug body.
