When Glen and Hazel Sigafoose sold "Sig", it was just never the same. I am not sure if you all know but Hazel was one of the woman pioneers of aviation. I miss the Sigafooses to be sure.

It was on the skids for a while under the new ownership, but it has been recently sold and the new owners are committed to bring it back to the great company it once was.

I sure hope so. I have been around long enough to remember how they used to be. I loved the Sig kits. It was a great company.

Buzz.

I think they should remove all of the ARF pages from the site until they know if/when they will be back in the ARF business. Just put up one page that says they are searching for a manufacturing partner.

I'm not concerned about the success of the company. What I am concerned about is the potential loss of kits. Look at Goldberg. Yes, it is still in existence, but almost all the kits are gone, and the newest release was an electric foamie. Same with Dynaflite. Almost no kits left.

I'm hoping they keep the kits they have on the site. I still haven't built them all!

You got that right about Goldberg. I learned to fly RC in 1987 with an Eagle 63 I built myself and went on to build many Goldberg kits (Falcon 56, several cubs, Chippy, Sr Falcon) and miss them very much. Horizon (Tower) butchered the line and I have had a bad attitude about them since.

It would be great to see sig build ARF's right here in the USA.

I've built many a sig kit but my problem has always been my covering job and now with ARF's I can have a really nice looking planes.

What I hated to see is SIG is not being carried by Tower anymore.

That's a "good" thing. If Hobbico, were to get hold of SIG, it would have been gone long ago, like Goldberg, Dynaflite, and Lanier. And how many others.

If WE were willing to pay the price for American labor, they might be able to do it. Needless to say , it probably won't ever happen. ENJOY !!! RED

You guys make Tower out to be the villan. You are really looking at this the wrong way.

First of all, Goldberg was going out of business. If Tower did nothing, there would be NO MORE Goldberg kits. So they bought the Goldberg line of kits and stopped producing the ones that weren't selling - But they DID continue to produce the kits that WERE selling. You should be thankful to them because without them ALL of the Goldberg kits would be gone.

As for Tower and Sig, by making Sig products available through Tower it boosted Sig's sales - That was a GOOD thing for Sig. But then SIG decided to stop selling through Tower - A poor decision in my mind which certainly didn't help sales and helped lead to their downfall.

Fortunately the company is now in capable hands and will hopefully dig itself out of the hole it created by poor management in the past.

BTW, here I am talking with the new owners of Sig at Toledo this year:

A buddy of mine was at the Toledo show and talked with the fellows at the Sig both. He ask about the Rascal 110 and they said it would be out in August. I emailed them and now they say that it will not be in August but later in the year if not next year. That's kinda what we got from the previous owers, due dates just kept being moved back. They did say that the prices will go up pretty good since the labor in China has gone up and the weak US dollar. I just hope they don't over price themselfs out of business.

I agree with Minn about Goldberg kits and Tower ( I think Lenier blew it with the Goldberg kits ). Minn , you may want to look into what Tower does to Mfg's other then their own as far as advertising and selling other's products. They are in bussiness !!!!! Don't get me wrong I like dealing with Tower but as I said " They are in Bussiness " ENJOY !!! RED

Gosh Mike, you make good video's and reviews!

This is my take on the matter.

If anyone knows about running a business it takes time, $$ and a lot of planning. The only reason why Goldberg, Dynaflite, and Lanier went out of business is that they weren't making much of a prophet compared to it's competitors. I don't think blamming Tower, Greatplanes or Hobbico is logical IMHO. If anyone is to blame it is us who bought other kits other than Goldberg, Dynaflite, and Lanier. If anything, Great Planes is keeping the name alive and still selling what's popular. Sometimes it's best to be bought out by a bigger fish if it is going to keep it in business. Just my thoughts on the matter.

I'm glad SIG has new owners. I look forward in seeing new products and hope they will use different outlets like using Tower or Horizon to help boost sales. Tower and Horizon usually gives us better deals. I've paid only dealers cost before thanks to my friend that owns a LHS. I try not to abuse his kindness, so many times I'll refuse and pay the internet cost plus tax.

I was quite pleased to see our local hobby shop stocking a limited line of Sig kits again. I always wanted to build another Kavalier and now I can.

Just to get it right......Horizon doesn't have anything to do with Tower. Hobbico owns Tower.

Even though they may be alittle higher than Balsa USA, I may have to put an order in for some wood.

Just at my LHS and picked up a 4 Star 40 kit. The guy said he's just starting to get Sig balsa in. Apparently those big Wind Turbine generators you see in the plains were hogging all the balsa supplies which impacted availability too.
