Phoenix P51 Mustang
Hi all
I just bought a Phoeninx P51 Mustang (40 size) I must say it's one of the nicer looking 40 sized Mustangs out there
I am quite curious whether this mustang is based on a real one that existed/exists or not.

RE: Phoenix P51 Mustang
Apears to have been based on a real aircraft and squadron. Google "p51 mustang 413926". The number is the tail number in your photo.
The plane apears to have been repainted and traded hands several times over the years to include a racing history. Check out the links below to learn more about your model's history base.

Found another cool picture of your bird in her original glory days! Note the difference in the virtical stabalizer in your tail numbered bird verses the other three...

RE: Phoenix P51 Mustang
Hi
Thanks for th info Found quite a few articles (including yours) when I Googled the tail number. Nice to know that it did/does actually exist at some point and that it is not just a mockup of what someone though it would be.
It does however fascinate me how an aeroplane manufacturer decides what real life plane to use or model when it comes to creating an new ARF.

I have always been fascinated by the sheer beauty of the P51, and hope before my modelling days are over I have the pleasure of getting my hands on one.

Where did you find it? I can't seem to find it here in the USA.

RE: Phoenix P51 Mustang
Hi
Here is a link to their official website. http://www.phoenixmodel.com They are a manufacturer in Vietnam.
And then Tower Hobbies also sells Phoenix kits, have a look here: http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0002p?&M=PMM
That is about all the info I can get you, seeing that I don't live in the US.
Good luck

Yep, been to Tower, they do carry Phoenix, but don't list the P-51. Looks like a nice design, but I don't think it's being sold in the USA. If anyone finds one, let us know.
