Default Pilot RC Sbach 243 73" (25%) anyone?

I am considering this airplane for my next airplane to replace a ageing Phoenix Extra

http://shop.singahobby.com/?q=node/29039

They told me its 25% but I couldnt locate it in the user reviews section. All the airplanes there are larger. Does anyone have any experience with this particular airplane and brand?

Haven't flown mine yet as I recently completed it with a DLE-30. Mine is the orange, purple and white color scheme. Pilot makes excellent ARF's; the quality is very high and I will just say that on my list, it is tops. I have every reason to believe the plane will fly as good as it looks. Covering is perfect except for a crooked sticker, construction is excellent, hardware is all usable. Jon

How does it compare to Aeroworks (Yak 120 QB) or GP(Reactor Bipe)?

Its lighter. The graphics are ratty looking and the tail wheel needs work.

Other than that, excellent and light construction, carbon gear, spinner, wing tube. Flys very well on a DLE30

Tony (owner of Pilot RC) is VERY responsive to customer service issues.

So, that would be

1) Replace the tail wheel and axle (which I would do anyway)

2) Add trimcote and pinstripes to make it more elegant

3) Reinforce firewall and landing gear block (which needs to be done on every model anyway)

Its expensive (about USD800 landed). I have a OSGT33 though. Is it really worth that much or should I open up my GW MX2 or get a H9 Funtana instead? I was thinking to get a 20cc size replacement....

The tail wheel is an easy mod, not that its junk, its just way too mushy on the ground.

Pinstripes aren't going to help, the lettering was made from a bad picture and blown up so it pixelated and that made it worse, the bigger the plane the worse it looks, but being a graphics guy I couldn't tollerate it, some folks are perfectly happy with theirs (till they see mine). I pulled the lettering off and re-did it with a vinyl cutter and covered up the stuff that was cut out of the orange and applied over a white base. Its not Top Gun but from a few feet it looks pretty good.

This airframe doesn't need any beefing.

There are some mad shipping rates on the airplane which puts it out of my budget. I have the altermative of getting a Goldwing Sbach or MX2. Still looking for a 20cc airplane though and I feel the Reactor Bipe is just too small

This plane must be a real winner because only one retailer in the USA had one in stock but his shipping charge were outrageous. I passed and purchased a Hangar Nine Extra 260 27% off an EBay store for $315 dollars. Wing loading and power to weight ratio are the variables to consider in 3D airframes especiall when using a gas engine. Gas powerplants are fine on fuel consumption but down on HP when compared to a glow engine. I'm going to power my Extra with a YS 140 DZ glow and we will see how it performs compared to a DLE 30cc gas engine.
