Hi there, i have a hangar 9 piper cub arf, 80", 40 size, ultra series, old model one piece wing;well, im trying to set up and install a camera to record video, its a sony webbie, total weight of camera with balsa box is 6.0 oz, so the questions are:
Do i have to ad the same 6.0 oz to the oposite wing to counter weight balance?
That will increase the weight of the plane to almost 12 oz more; im planing to use a magnum 52 4 stroke blue head; is that enough power plant?
This are the specs: obviously to the total weight shown on the specs, need to be added 10 oz more:
Wingspan: 80 in
Overall Length: 50 in
Wing Area: 850 sq in
Flying Weight: 6.5 - 7 lbs
Engine Size: .40 - .48 (2-stroke), .45 - .60 (4-stroke)
Radio: 4 channel
Servos: 4
Thanks for sugestions.

I would recommend balancing the plane laterally whether you were adding the camera or not, but especially since you are adding a camera. If you need to add weight temporarily, just use some loose change and packing tape on the bottom of the wing tip. For permanent installation you can use lead 1/4 ounce weights, or whatever is needed, slit the covering, and tuck it up in the wingtip with epoxy. The further out on the tips you locate the weight then obviously the less you would need to add.
I have the great planes 40 with a 54 four stroke and it flies fine. It's scale power. I'm sure it will fly your plane, it may eat up a little runway with some more weight and depending on the grass, but I can't imagine it will make too much difference in the air for cruising along. If you want some power to spare, I would probably go up motor size or to a 50 something 2 stroke.
