Hello everyone, since I'm new here so I put some pictures.
Coming off my other Cuber eventually.
Here are some pictures of my Hangar 9 Super Cub with Saito fg36
I am very pleased with this model and engine works fine in this plane
Should be LN-KCM
With friendly greetings
Rune

Hey everybody! Looking forward to the build and taking full advantage of all the tips and mods on here! I'm seeing there are two options for the VVRC 40cc and one is out of stock. I think it's the one everyone is installing on this beast. Anyone know how long they take to get them back in stock? I built the Super Cub ep25 And there was a lady out of Albuquerque that did the piper custom decals but can't remember how to get a hold of her... anyone know her contact info? Keep up the good work Cub brethren!

To order a VVRC40 call Tom. He sells out of them as fast as he can get them in.

They have or had 2 different 40cc twins, one had standard CM-6 plugs, the other one had the smaller 1/4x32 plugs. The smaller plugs fit within the cowl w/o any cutting.

Thanks Gents! Looking forward to scaling this thing out completely! Barracuda, your rig looks GREAT! Im going to be new to the petrol engines on this one as I have been flying nitro and Electric since i was young. Will there be carb adjustments because of temp and elevation every time I go to the field with the VVRC 40? Im assuming so and the cowl will probably have to come off before the first flight every flight day, correct? Looking forward to the PR's too! I had a pair of 8" trexler's on my super old school H9 1/4 Super Cub and loved how they handled on grass but they definitely had a shelf life and stopped production on them years back.
Slainte!

Barracuda, I know your friend helped with the inner cowling cooling duct work right? Looks very scale to the Carbon Cub and I am wondering if you feel its helping? Also wondering what you are getting on run times with the stock fuel cell... Im planning on using my Futaba 7EX and hope it will be enough given I plan on using a few Y-harnesses. What battery setups are you using for the radio and ignition? Totally new to the ignition thing too so any advice on that would be greatly appreciated! I plan on starting the ordering process tomorrow and want to have everything delivered by the time i get back stateside. On my 25 ep Super Cub I had to drill out the nav light spot for the tail and customize the strobes in the wing tips as well as did some custom work with mini mag lights for the landing and slanted taxi light. Had to run extra wire for some of them too. Any words of wisdom with that process?
Thanks!
Thanks!

Cheers

Just ordered my VVRC 40cc and I'm stoaked! I have seen guys using an 18inch prop on here for the scale look which is what I'm going for but nothing on how that is working for the engine and aircraft performance. Anyone have data on this and what prop they're using?...

18" is pretty small, this is an engine you don't want to over speed. Mine has a Falcon carbon 20x9 on it, when I reviewed this engine we tested a bunch of props and that had the most thrust, plus mine is on floats and water chews up wood props.
Whatever you run, make sure it's big enough to pull it down into the recommended RPM range.

Thanks! I figure its either gonna be a little long looking or oddly wide with an increased prop chord line... I guess its gonna be fine with the added length and the PR's on it. Love me some wheel landings so ill just be vigilant if need be.

Ok Fellers Im about to pull the trigger on this plane. It will be electric powered and do double duty as land and sea based (tundra tires and floats) so I want some serious poop up front. What is everyone using for motor/speed control/cell count?

I flew my Super Cub for a couple of years on the following EP setup:
- Tacon Bigfoot 160 (Power 160 clone)
- Castle Talon 120HV
- (2) GensAce 5S 5300 (in series)
- Xoar 19x10 (land)/APC 19x10 (water)
I also picked up the Morgan Mill battery tray & EP motor mount.
Tons of power, lots of fun!

Has anyone mounted a pair of wheel pants using the stock (or Robart) landing gear? I have some from wheel pants from Fiberglass Specialties. Seems like my axels will be a bit short. I would like to use the cub wheels, but it looks like I would have to use some skinny tires which I really don't care for.

The build is coming along. Some minor challenges but they were overcome. I do have a question for you guys that have completed your builds. The manual indicates the need for 8 servos, it makes no mention of a reversed servo for one of the elevators. Did I miss something in the manual? I just reversed one of my servos and pressed on but I do think it is a major oversight on Hangar 9's part. I had the capability to reverse a servo, some guys would not not be able or have the tools....what was your experience?
