While it's too late to dispute the April charge with your credit card, calling that lady back for a refund while you can, might be the smart way to go than rely on false hope? Did you see the thread SIG has their building for sale at $550,000 with a real estate broker yet? The last guy left behind to sweep their floors, probably won't care about your backorder. By all appearances, SIG is dead, why wait for the autopsy report? Listing the location for sale isn't a good sign. Maybe to an optimist, SIG will move everything out to a smaller building and the $550,000 selling price will be an adrenaline shot for a second wind, or one last breath? Some can smell the smoke before seeing the flames. Should we blame it on the drones?

Any rate, I got an Astro Hog, Four star 40, and a Seniorita I've been suck with for six months. Maybe they might just sell now on RCG, where ads are noticed by a larger group of active members. (They also have photos and a working search function.)

According to the real estate broker, SIG isn't out of business, just moving:

Downsizing would make sense, but the real estate broker also said other things. Sig Manufacturing
Time will tell.

cyclop2:

Are you serious with your comment? Covid 19 was and is a fraud and scam, completely blow out of proportion to scare the public in order to change voting laws for the sole purpose of stealing the 2020 election. All the BS about masks is just that...BS. The vaccine DOES NOT stop or prevent anything, but it could kill you. Big Pharma has made a fortune on this scam, with the help of the current clowns in DC. Research for yourself and learn the truth!

I placed an order with SIG for wood and glue.
I hope they have 100s of loyal customers who see the value in giving SIG some good faith support.
I don't think a $100 charge on a credit card is any sort of a gamble

NOTHING TO SEE HERE FOLKS

You wrote this in January. Is October enough patience to now call it what it is?

I have an update on what SIG , or more exactly, Herb Rizzo is up to. I am sure many here know Evergreen Scale Models and Plastruct. They have their building located in DesPlaines IL. In June they petitioned the city council to add on a 2,000 SQFT addition for SIG. There will be 4 employees working for SIG.

Speculation only at this point based on this information, but you can pretty much rule out any new kits from SIG and expect only items that can be warehoused like Koverall, dopes, and ARF. 65 Bradrock Dr, Des Plaines, IL 60018 is the supposed new location for SIGMFG. 2,000 sqft is 1/10th of what their Iowa location was where they made the kits. They might be able to squeeze in a laser cutter, but there is just no way to have their saw mill in that little area. The building the saw mill was in was 3200 sqft.

What surprises me the most is when I visited SIG with the new owner back in early 2022, they were creating kits by the pallet full, their sheet goods were in full swing, though the DEA destroyed a full shipment of balsa wood with no reimbursement, and that had to hurt. They had 2 new laser cutters getting installed too. It looked like SIG could make a comeback, only to find out they closed the doors.

Well,, the addition of 2,00sq.ft is small,, but the existing building is around 20,000 sq.ft. It could also be speculated that the Sig business could occupy much of that area too,,

Most retail these days utilize "Fulfillment centers" vs warehousing stock themselves, so not having warehouse space in not an issue in my mind

Truth is we don't know more than we do know,, that that's a legitimate criticism on Rizzo for not communicating to his customer base.

6 months has passed since approval was given for a Class 6(b) Property Tax Incentive to the properties Rizzo owns in Illinois. "The Class 6(b) program offers a 12-year reduction in real estate assessments from the standard Cook County industrial rate of 25 percent." Page 4 - https://archivecenter.desplaines.org...epository&cr=1
Rizzo is using the existing address to two businesses he owns and has registered on BBB,

https://www.bbb.org/us/il/des-plaine...plaints#489341
to lease 2,000 sq ft to SIG MFG, hiring 2 more local employees. I can't find any council meetings in Iowa about the remaining properties still on the market. With the trend in real estate these days, they may be paying taxes on those properties for awhile.

I hope their new products have a market that will support the 2 employees they hope to hire, and beyond. Maybe delivery time won't be an issue this spring?
The SIG website says in 2024 they will appear on the scene, like they said back in 2023.

The need for Hobby Supplies is always ongoing , if Sig is not producing then other people and companies will eventually fill the gap left by Sig. I personally have found other sources for my Supplies.

Some value SIG more than they're worth. People hate change and stick to what they know, so they know SIG kits/ARF's and glue for example. They may have a market, if they hang on to some of the legacy products, but today, that's a very small percentage of "RC hobby" products, as mentioned in my post #24. Forum classifieds have served me well for years, and estate sales. No reason to follow the Joneses.
