Got to maiden the Waco last weekend. It was a tense moment as the only planes I've flown in the last 10 years was a PK corsair I picked up a couple of months ago. It flew great didn't have to trim it at all. First flight it was a little twitchy so I bumped the expo up some and that smoothed it out a lot. I ended up with a OS GT33, 7 Hitec HS 645ms servos, and a 5945 I think it was, on the rudder. I got the power system from Troybuild with 2 lion batteries for a total of 5600 mah and the Ibef filter to run the ignition from the RX pack. I put a TM1000 in it with the voltage sensor on the RX battery and the temp sensor on the regulator. I also put in a Altimeter yesterday. I made an access door on the bottom just behind the landing gear to take the 2 batteries out. I wanted to put them under the fuel tank so I didn't have to add any weight to balance. The only problem I had was after the last flight I discovered I must have forgot to locktite the screws in the landing gear as 1 had fallen out and the other 3 had worked them selfs out half way. Oops, that could have been costly. It's a nice plane but a job to put together and take apart at the field. I used DLE30 standoffs and that put the carb about 1 inch from the firewall and I didn't have to cut the firewall at all, worked out great. The OSis a nice motor, looking forward to getting it broke in. I just ordered a 808 #16 HDkeychain Cam so I hope to take some 720p inflight video soom

I'm going to re-engine mine for the third time. I started with a Saito 170R-3, but I couldn't take all the oil residue after a day of flying. Next I put a MT-57cc with a canister where the jet engine was, but it was too powerful, anything more than half throttle you better be going straight up or the wings where going to come off. So now I'm thinking of a G-38 converted to IE, or a Trunigy 26cc. I'm leaning toward the 26cc, I want it to fly on the wing, not the prop.

os 33 or DLE 35 would be just right for full aerobatics with a bunch of reserve to pull some extra fun when needed. most 26 cc will be scale flight only

I started looking for an engine, the first thing that I grabbed in the box was a MT-50. I had had this engine on a 78inch Extra 300, the plane probably should've had a 30cc in it because it was ballistic with this motor. So I mounted it in the WACO and flew it today, it's a nice fit. I think my WACO weighs about 16 pounds, ( have large batteries in it, and an extra one I GOOPed in that I don't trust , but it's too much effort to get it out.), the plane will take-off, climb vertically 300 feet and hover there until I "let" it fall off. There is no reserve power to pull out of the hover with this engine, I'm getting 7500rpm with a 20x10 prop but I don't fly 3D. I fly mostly at half throttle, but I like the extra power for nice verticals. I think it would fly on a 26cc very scale like.

Get a Caravan! I have a rule, Bipes have to fit in the car assembled or I don't want it, this just fits.

Resurrecting an old thread.
Just finished my UPF-7 last week, and got a few flights on it Saturday and yesterday. VERY nice flying aircraft, so glad we found one from Peter at Kangke. Unable to post pics since only my first post. RCGF 30CC twin with something like a 24oz tank is essentially 20 mins flying it pretty sporty with probably fuel for 6-7 touch and goes extra. Flies great on this combo like Jimmy's Mystery Ship!

p.s. It took around a total of 21 ounces of lead in the nose with this setup to balance. Also did the B&B landing gear wire as empty weight is around 15lbs.
