RE: Kangke Waco Biplane
That is an open ended question. The Brison would be in the 3 lb range with muffler and ignition--HOWEVER Qutra, Fuji, US, G45 or any other magneto gas 40cc engine will be in the 4-5 lb range. Maybe Ray can chime in here and give his thoughts.

So either way my saito twin would be around the same weight as the "recommended" size of gas engine for the waco. THe only other issue would be whether or not the waco could handle the prop clearance for the 20-24 inch prop needed for the Saito 300T.

RE: Kangke Waco Biplane
I see no reason why the twins should be a problem. 4 pounds can be balanced with location of the RC gear and batteries. The servo tray can hold the rudder servo only, or rudder and two elevator, it can also be mounted anywhere from the wing support plate to the cockpit (thats about 1 1/2 feet). I am using a 22/6 prop on mine with the ZDZ40 so clearance is not a problem. 40cc is the largest engine I recommend, but I know that won't stop anything. Try to remember the plane flies scale with a 120 four stroke. The firewall is well locked but the plane can pull 15 "G's" think about that with a 5 pound engine, or what will happen to the landing gear on that 4 "G" bounced landing. The power of the engines is not the problem, we can all use our left thumb, the weight can be a problem. If I make the gear soft enough to absorb shock with a saito 150 it will be too soft for a US41, if I stiffen it for the 4.5 pound engine it will transmit too much shock to the airframe and rc gear with the Saito. The wider the range of engines the more difficult it becomes to design, and trust me going from a 120 four stroke to a ZDZ 40 is a WIDE range. we expect them to arrive any day, then I need a week for the instructions.
I do like the Ideas that come out of this kind of post, and I think it's good that I sometimes get to explain what we go through on "this side of the fence", so please keep them coming.
And before you ask AFJ, one more plane before the Buker.

My Kangke Waco shipped to me this week. Should be here in a few days! I'm going with the ZDZ 40 since I have one sitting on the shelf feeling sorry for itself. Anyone else have theirs yet? Will post pictures just as soon as it arrives.

Recieved mine yesterday. The manual will be on the net on the 15th of the month. No decals ,guess I'll call Cajun R/C. They sent me a nice set for the monocoupe. If the waco flies asgood as the monocoupe and the rearwin I'll be happy. I have a saito 1.80 in the mono and a Moki 2.10 in the rearwin. I'm going with a zdz 40 in this one

RE: Kangke Waco Biplane
I just ordered my Waco today from a local dealer in Wisconsin. I am so impressed with my monocoupe that I had to own another Kangke plane. It was a toss-up between the cream colored one and the red colored one. If I was a little better at trimming with monocote, I would have ordered the creme one but I ended up with the pre-trimmed red one. I will put my new Saito 300T twin in this plane. Pics to come soon.

RE: Kangke Waco Biplane
received my kangke waco last night. Once again, this looks like a very nicely done plane. Covering is prefect- no wrinkles and very nicely applied. There were no instructions, box art, or decals yet, but I was able to download the instructions from website.
I was messing around for around 45 minutes and already have the landing gear and wings installed. The rest should go together pretty quickly. Now I just have to figure out how to cram my saito 300 twin inside the cowl. Should be the most difficult part. I hope to post build pics on a new thread this weekend.

Must be nice working for the company, you get all the good stuff before everyone else. And at a great price, I'm sure.

Ray,
I just got mine from J&S RC in Eagle River. Anything I should know as far as mods or tricks assembling this thing?
ALso, I am using a saito 300 twin. Can I shave off the firewall flat so the mount will fit flush against it? In other words, can I get rid of those two strips of wood that go right down the middle of the firewall vertically?

RE: Kangke Waco Biplane
I have a sportsman aviation WACO 60 sz with a Saito 100 and have been watching this thread... I also own the 30sz Waco. This plane looks great... and would be the next great addition. I want to see some more reviews on how it flys and what motors end up working best... My Waco in not built as tough, but it flys great. I am afraid to push it where as this one looks like it will handle all it is given. Can't wait for the reviews. Mine only cost $200, but I bet this one is worth all the extra.. should end up being in my hanger this next winter...
Here is a pic of mine & a cute video he did of it flying.

anyone have theirs flying yet? Just curious how things went, would like a flight report. I have my kangke waco about 1/3 finished. Just getting ready to mount the engine- I had to reinforce and double the fuselage because I am putting a saito 300 twin in mine.

RE: Kangke Waco Biplane
A friend we fly with has one of these planes, maiden flight took place last week. He used a ZDZ 40 for power. This seemed like a nice combo. We haven't weighed the plane yet. I know one thing we noted during the initial flight was the fact that the rudder was super sensitive. This made ground handling hard also. I believe he dialed in 50% Dual Rate and -30% expo to make the rudder more friendly, of course all pilots will vary on this.
The plane looks great in the air though, I didn't notice any bad stall characteristics either. I'll try and get some pics posted later this evening.

Ailerons 5/8-inch up-down
Elevator 1-inch up-down
Rudder 1 1/2-inches right-left.
Run 30% expo to soften the sticks at center.
