Fujis and Zenoahs are fine for warbirds but this is an aerobatic plane and should have a light engine. DA, BME or Brison 50cc would be a great combo and two pounds lighter than the Fuji or Zenoah equivalent.

I just did balance today and discovered that the G-62 is very heavy on the nose. My battery packs for smoke and RX weigh 11 oz. I needed to mount them as far back into the tail as possible. So from the following photos you can see that I cut the monokote away from the back side of the plane and put the batteries in on some trays. With this mod the plane is at 18.5 lbs. and balances at around 5-7/8" from the front top wing.

I just got the GP Christian Eagle and have to decide on an engine for it now. I was thinking of the G 62 as well. Two questions: 1) does this engine create CG problems by making the plane nose heavy ? and 2) Is there going to be any problems with prop clearance ? Your advise will be much appreciated !

I flew the G-62 powered Christen Eagle ARF tonight after work. Conditions were dead calm. 13 min. flight. Elevator trim was way off. I had it about 1/8" up and it needed to be about 1/8" down. So it jumped off the ground and climbed like crazy. I had to throttle back and then put in full down trim. One click of rudder trim and 1 click of Aileron trim. Pretty straight for an ARF.
She seems like a fine bird. Pleasant roll rate. Smooth in the sky. It is way over propped with a 22 X 10. What I need is a 24 X 8. I want the climb but not the speed. I have way too much speed.
The BISSON Muffler has a nice tone to it. Much quieter than a B&B. Really not annoying in any way.
Handed it to my 17 year old for about 5 min. He started to do all kinds of crazy stuff like outside loops and such. I took it back. Let him get his own.
Landing was uneventful. It slows down quickly. No bounce. Very easy to land compared to a Warbird. No stress, just plop it on the runway.
Several of the wing flying wires loosened-up after the first flight. I suppose they had to get the slack stretched out of them.
It's ready to go again. It will be nice to try the smoker.

I'm having a hard time deciding on a powerplant. I have a NIB ZDZ 40 RV with a pitts muffler tapped for smoke which is what I was thinking of using. But do you guys think the 40 is too small, meaning I need a 50cc? I was also considering a Fuji 50 (and maybe the Fuji 62 also) but I know they are heavier and being I would like a smoke system the ZDZ makes better sense.
What do you guys think? Would the lighter weight of the ZDZ 40 make it desirable and enough power compared to maybe a little more power from the Fuji, but the Fuji being heavier in weight also.
What say you?

I have a Poulan 50cc in mine. Almost unlimited vertical.
My ZDZ-40 matches my Poulan 50 in RPM. The only difference is the Poulan is about 8 oz heavier. A ZDZ-40 will do fine.

I am doing a CE II with a DA-50R anyone have some pics of this engine installed or any tips for this combo? I was going to get that new Fuji 50 with the Electronic Ignition, but from what I've heard on the DA's, I was sold. I think this will be a great combo, I really like this plane, what a beauty!

A saito 300 twin would be nice in that plane. I have one lying around that I am not using currently and thought about putting it in a christen eagle.
