Cubs - Are they all flat-bottom wing?
Greetings,
Quick question - are all the Cub ARF's using a flat-bottom wing? I was thinking about getting a used GP Cub J-3, but it has a flat-bottom wing which doesn't excite me too much. I like the idea of having a Cub in my hangar, but the flat bottom wings just don't cut if from a acrobatic point of view. I'm not looking for 3D or any ultra serious tricks, but I would like to do some rools and inverted flight without it falling out of the sky without a ton of elevator input.
I hear the clipped wing Cub are more acrobatic. Is this version available in an ARF?
Thanks much!

The real cubs have a flat bottom airfoil. The Clipped wing is a shorter version of the full sized wing, no difference in airfoils. You can fly a clipped wing cub inverted and roll it. You just need to learn to use the rudder (per the full size plane).. There are other Hi wing monoplanes that are a little more aerobatic, like the Taylor craft.. BobH.

RE: Cubs - Are they all flat-bottom wing?
Kyosho used to market an ARF clipped wing Cub. (.40 size)
I have their standard Cub and it loops and rolls o.k.
Not in the same league as an Extra mind you, but still enjoyable.
Unfortunately, down elevator is and parcel of inverted flight with a flat bottom wing. Moving the C of G back a little may help a tad, but probably not much.
Or as advised, go look at something else with a high wing, but more aerobatic, like a Citabria.
