Default Does anyone out there own a Jamara Giles G202???

I bought a Jamara Giles G202 on Ebay, it has a 72 in. wingspan. I didn't get the instruction/construction manual. If anyone out there could help me out with one it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance. Don

You can click on the English flag and view their website in English. I have emailed them numerous times and offered to pay postage or whatever they would require and have never gotten a response.

Any luck on the manual?

I also got one on the way, NIB but without manual.

I'll try contacting jamara as well, maybe I'll have more luck. They offer a lot of manuals on their website for download, so maybe the giles will follow.

I downloaded the extra manual in the mean time, I'm guessing construction is very similar. I'd like to know throws and CG though, preferably before the first flight...

What engine are you planning on? I'm thinking saito FA-120 or 150, though they are pretty pricey over here (€390 / €450 resp.) or maybe an OS FS120 (even more expensive.. sigh)

I'm on email number 3 as we speak. I wonder how long they can ignore me?

I think I'll give them a call eventually..

I finally received the manual from Jamara. It's in german, but I can send it to anyone who needs it.
I can read it pretty well, so ask what you need to know

It's nicely built, pretty light as well. I did put the rudder servo up front, with a pull-pull system. Helps the CG a bit.

The tailfeathers do need the braces. I used CF rod from the tail to stab and from the stab to the fuse. Works great.

Mine has a saito 180 up front. Plenty of power. Gas would work well also I think (26cc or so).

Plane flies great, lands very slowly. Keep a bit of power on though, or it'll snap

Thanks,

I have also ordered one from Jamara, the blue one.
My idea was to put a OS120 (20cc) four stroke on it ?

Wat do you think ?

ps what is the fuel consumption of your Saito 180 ?
Which servo's did you use ?

The 120 should work okay. No unlimited verticals I think, but should perform quite allright

I have a 450cc tank in it, in about 8 minutes all fuel is gone
The 180 is a thirsty one..

Hi All

This is a CMPro ARF, there are a few threads here on this model. I have the green one, there is no manual that I know of, the box came with a tightly rolled up sheet that shows an exploded view of the aircraft.

Overall, it wasn't too difficult to build. I found the glue joints on the firewall/engine box were pretty dry and weak, so beefed up the inside of the box with some balsa and epoxy. The canopy latches were also not straight, I did get it to fit in the end but I'm going to find another way to hold it down.

I've only had one flight so far, with a very rich OS 160 with an Mejzik 18X6 CF prop. Flies very nice. Unfortunately the CF U/C broke on the first (not at all hard) landing. I know of others who had the same problem. I'd recommend some re-enforcement around the angle where it exits the fuse, nylon wire and epoxy should do the trick. I'm now waiting on a replacement UC from bolly (not quite the same but should fit).

Regards

Vincent.

I have just done my first flight with the Giles 202/140. Fitted with OS FS120SP, weighs in around 5.5kg, conservative CG, needed some up trim, other than that no problems, didnt notice any tendency to snap or stall badly. All servos except throttle at the rear, rx and battery rearwards also - engine+mount=1.6kg. Fuel tank in normal front location, 550ml.
I only got the single big sheet, no real instructions. Canopy latches needed some work to make effective. Used 4-40 pushrods and clevises for safety. See my notes on another Giles thread.

Well, Bolly were taking too long so I got a replacement CMPro U/C (AU$70, rediculous price), used nylon wire some cf tows and epoxy to re-enforce it. Lasted 10 flights! Yesterday after a perfect 3 pointer I turned at the end of the strip and the U/C just snapped, right where the re-enforcing epoxy ended. Bolly U/C should be arriving today.. won't waste any money on CMPro stuff again. Oh, and the tailwheel just fell apart this weekend too, noticed I couldn't turn too well when taxiing after landing and then realise the tailwheel had no tire!

I spent a lot of time trimming the plane this weekend. The OS160 is more than enough engine for this model, unlimited vertical performance. Doesn't 3D too well, couldn't get it to hover (falls out way too easily or just climbs), waterfalls just wouldn't happen, need to adjust my elevator rates I think. I'm going to move my CG back a bit to see if it will help. Also, this thing is very slippery, tough to slow it down for landing, and pretty scarey deadstick (really needs the breaking effect of the prop).

Regards

Vincent.

Are you talking of the Jamara or the Cmpro as I am confused that the undercarriage is going to snap on the Jamara 180cm version
