I just got a model tech magic arf. Besides reinforcing the fire wall with epoxy like I have learned to do to all ARF's, can anyone give me any more info about this plane? Good,,,,,,,,,,Bad, does it even fly??
Thanks

Not only do they fly,but they are awesome!!There are many many threads on this plane do a search for it.The only thing I did to mine was to add flying wires, they are pretty much a necessity. You're really gonna like this plane. On my first one I bolted the wing on,but on the second I stuck with the rubber bands, they are plenty strong enough and much forgiving when you bang it in hovering or just having fun,and you will bang it in because it flies so well and fun.Have a ball!!

GREAT! Thanks for the input. I have a Giles with a ys91fz that I just got the torque roll thing going on. Sounds like this magic will be a blast with a 46fx.
I will take your advice and put wires on it in the morning. I was wondering about the rudder when I put it on,,,,,,,Looked like a big control surface for the little tab they give you to attach it to the fuse.
Thanks again! and good flying!

Don't over power it, keep it light up front. Move everything aft as far as possible, they ALWAYS build nose heavy. There have been reports of verticals breaking off, but this might have been some early model problems with a little e-forum hysteria mixed in. I have had 2 Magic's and have twisted them up pretty tight without snapping a vertical. Broke a fues in flight! But that's another story. See my gallery. Suggest soaking every piece of bare wood you can reach inside of the fues with thin CA. Don't worry about the firewall. Bend up and braze together a new set of gear and take it to the field, so you can replace it when the original breaks. Don't replace the broken gear with generic, short, aluminum strap gear. That's so "un-Magic". Keep the rubber bands, "bolt-ons" are for flat chested women. Have Fun!

Just got my magic in the air. It is a damn fine plane. I have a 46fx on it and it balanced just a couple oz nose heavy. going to add a little weight to the tail " I am sure it wont hurt the performance with the fx strapped on it" and fly again.
Just wanted to tell you guys thanks for all the advice you gave me on this plane. when I wipe it out, I'm sure I will, I'll have to go get another!
Thanks

Putting my third one together now.
The first two had a 46fx on the front, flying wires on the tail, and battery on triangle stock above the tail servos. Balanced at 4.5.
Two more mods that I am adding to this one:
1. Rebuilding the vertical stab starting at the back of the wing and will taper to the top of the exhisting rudder.
2. Steerable tailwheel. (I fly off grass)
Not for sure if I will add any surface area to the rudder yet but am considering it heavily.
#4 will probably be the magic extra. (I may not wait till I break this one though)

I mounted the battery the same way and I am adding wires tomorrow. I will balance it at the 4.5. I used the instruction balance point and even with the battery back, it is still a little nose heavy. I flew it anyway. On the first flight on all my planes I like to fly them just a tad nose heavy. I fly off grass also. may consider the tail wheel also although I didn't have much problem with the wire.
