The wheelpants are a nice hard white fiberglass and the wheels are 2 3/4". Did you get the new design VF Edge where the wings fit into a recessed area on the fuse? lets see some pics of that baby dude.

gjeffers, I guess living in CA. you don't have to worry about the cold weather setting in as we do down south. Our flying season is just about over. I guess you'll be getting your Edge in the air before to long. How is the plastic belly pan??? We want a flight report dude.

no prob zippi, and yea the weather here is the best during the winter[8D]
ill probably get to maiden it sometime next week or weekend and will let ya know how it goes!!
the belly pan is not a problem as long as it is cut out right, if done in a hurry or incorrect it would be bad[X(]

Yes it will dude. The Saito 1.00 I have on mine is great and will pull out of a hover but a 1.20 would be really radical on this plane. If I had to do it all over again, I'd probably put the new Saito 1.25 due out this month on it.

Nice to here from you Ernie. I got my new CF landing gear installed but thats about it. To cold here for flying, for me anyway. There has been a few days that kinda peaked my interest about flying but I have everything stored for the winter. This is going to be a good year coming up I'm getting ready to buy the new OS MAX 120AX 2 stoke for my new Seagull 1/4 Scale Laser 200. Hows things in your neck of the woods?

Hey Zippi, happy holidays to you! I have all next week off, but it looks like more wind and rain. Your new 120 AX should be a sweet engine. I think I saw one version that comes without the big heavy muffler, at a cheaper price. I am still drooling looking at the Saito 125. We have our annual hobby expo coming in Febuary.

Got my 540 delivered yesterday, gonna be fitted with an SC 120 4stroke up the front.

Not sure to start with 15x8 or 16x6 prop...any ideas?

Any things I should look out for in the build, I see the wing dihedral and the UK manual is different to the one online at Skyshark.com and clearly shows this. Tempted to get some glassfibre undercart.

Hope yours are still flying strong!

My manual said to raise one wing tip 7/8 to set the dihedral. This worked out fine. The 16X6 should be fine and give you plenty of speed. The wing center section is very strong with the wood joiner that is used. No need to glass the center section. The 120 4 stroke will be a perfect match up and you may not have to add any weight to the nose to balance the plane. The dowel rod that is used for the control rod for the elevator is a little tricky to get into the plane and even more trying to get it to come out of the fuse on both sides in the rear. After a few frustrating trys just remember, it can be done. Keep an eye out for some new landing gear, you'll need it. One other thing you need to be concerned about. Once this beautiful plane takes off you'll get a grin on your face that cannot come off for a pretty good while

flew mine yesterday with os 120 with a pump this plane flys great and the 120 gives it more than enough power this is one of my favorites already only complaint is the landing gear i made a perfect landing first flight and it bent instead of 2 gears they should just give you 1 good gear makes no sense plus my trim on my wing came off first flight. but i have to say i liked the way this plane flew so well it doesnt matter.

I replace the landing gear after a few flights because I also got tired of bending the gear back after each landing. I now have CF gear which is a lot better.

Nearly finished building mine, I chose to go with some carbon fibre look-a-like undercart before I even start, got mine from ebay from a UK company Carbon Copy CCU15 is the model to go for.

I haven't fitted the RX and battery yet, but by the feel of the fuz only I think it'll need some weight at the rear somewhere.

Just need some decent weather next....

Out of interest what sort of flight times are you getting, with which engine, and are you using a 10oz tank?

I'm running a Saito 100 with the stock fuel tank. I always just set my timer on the TX for 7 min so I don't really know how long it would fly until the tank was empty.

I purchased my Skyshark Edge 540 last fall and have been debating what type of engine to install ever since.
Almost went with the Saito 125, but finally decided to get the BME G90 (Super Tigre G90 gas conversion).
I know it won't have the performance of the Saito 125, but it should be about equal to the Saito 100, at least I'm hoping it is.
It will be interesting to see how this 60 size glow alternative works.

I think the Saito 125 would have been the way to go but the BME ST G90 Gaser sounds like a good pair up. keep us posted on this combo and post a few pics along the way.

Hey, Ya'All.

I just ordered the Skyshark Edge 540 with the Saito 125 and JR 9303 system from my local dealer. I'm not real crazy about fiberglass landing gear from prior experiences from VMAR, but do you all think the aluminum gear out of the Sig 4-Star .60 would work okay?? Please advise. Thanks, everybody!

I think the 4 Star gear would be fine as long as it gives you the prop clearance you need an it looks nice. I'm sure its plenty strong.

I think your going to like this plane with the Saito 125. As far as the landing gear off of a 4-Star, I guess any gear can be made to fit, it's a question of will it look ok as far as the height and are the bends in the right spot at the fuse. I would suggest custom CF gear but whatever you go with just make sure it's stronger than the gear that came with the plane because that gear will not hold up. I'm heading out to fly my Edge 540 in about an hour .

Hey, Man! That sounds like fun! Sure wish I could do that right now! I'm overseas as of now, but will be home for leave here in less than a month! I can't wait! But I'll have all this stuff waiting for me when I get there!

Hey, Zippi, what CF gear did you end up using exactly? I've been to all the different links and stuff, but I can't find one for the Skyshark Edge 540 specifically. THANKS AGAIN!

I had a guy out of Hoosick Falls, NY custom make me a set for less than $40.00 shipped. If you go to my Webpage at http://zippi.50webs.com/index.htm you can see pics of the gear on my plane. PM me if you would like his email address.
