jjordan i've put one of these kits together.it pretty much straight forward build. it flys great.lands slow and easy with no wing tip stalling.still getting used to plane but i think it will do all 3d stuff.just learning to torque roll let alone trying it on this plane.mounted tank at c.g. location. using dual elevators at rear.i would use spruce in the horizontal stab. cracked mine when i stripped out the gears in one of the hor.stb.servo while being rough with it in the air. i'm running a st 2300,bisson muffler, hyde soft mount, stock carb, old robart(kline style)pump,18x6 prop,i can tell its going to hover at around half throttle. this is the older kit. the only quirks i had was after flying and looking at trim settings, the elevator was trimmed down quite a bit. after finding a few sights and reading about other peoples planes.the hor.stab should be set up at the front at about one degree negative.(have to check my notes)and that the wing sheeting seemed a little thin for much sanding (could be builder?)beef up the landing gear area a little. the turtle deck sheeting was a breeze and came out perfect. all in all i like this kit, would build another.
