ORIGINAL: bluestratos

I put the new 91 OS in mine, but I have not flown it yet. It fits perfectly and I use one in my Goldberg Chipmunk so I have experience in a simular sized airframe. The Chipmunk loves the 91, fast, great vertical. Not 3D type power but the plane is not 3D friendly anyways, lol..
The 91 is such reliable, easy starting engine.. it likes a bit of prime on the first start but after that easy start every time.
The long landing gear on the Sukhoi makes propping easy, lots of clearance for any prop this engine can handle.
Best regards,
Randy
Tell us how it maidened, what size of prop are you using, did you have to cut the cowel up to fit the head of the .91? How much weight was added to the nose for balance? Did you stay with the stock muffler? Good luck , the SU-31 flys well !

I used the recommended size for the engine but not sure I will have to check, the engine is the same size as the 61 so it fit inside the cowl with out cutting. The wieght is vertually the same as the 61 so I was able to move the battery around enough to make it balance. I used a pits muffler that comes right out the bottom.. slimline I think. I still have 6 planes that need to be maidened, building faster than flying but I will post when It gets some air under the wings.

The landing gear is weak, mine is now beefed up and replaced(dead stick landing in big grass) Tryed a 15/4 wide prop on my OS 91 4S but it likes 14/6 better overall. Knife edge is solid. Cross wind landings are a breeze . One of the best planes I have got. I see Hobbico is selling them again in the lastest AMA mag. I using the new JR servos DS821's 70oz, really made a diff. in control.

Right side up , only when landing

Try the 14x4w on the .91 4s, you should get a stronger up line and less speed in level flight.
