Well personally i think the 9303 is a very NICE radio and has some very good features. Like flight conditions / Modes. When i was in the market for a TX I just couldn't afford the extra 100 dollars over the 9C. I bought me the futaba 9c and i love it. It does everything i want plus a little more. I myself am an all futaba guy. I have futaba everywhere and i also didn't want to switch over 4-5 recievers for every plane.

go with the 9C. I've had mine for over a yr. now, and can't imagine needing anything more from a radio. Very easy to program

I was faced with the same decision a few months ago and decided to get the 9c since I already had a number of Futaba receivers. It's been greatly improved over past Futaba transmitters and is easy to program. It was a matter of economics for me since it was my intent to have only one transmitter. I got tired of trying to maintain multiple radio batteries.

I couldn't imagine needing anything else from a radio either but you know they'll come up with something to get more money out of us!

I have been flying with a 9C this past year and love it. One of my club members has a JR10x and a Futaba 9C. He flys with the Futaba more times than the JR. He said he likes both but the 9c is his favorite.

Have both Futaba and JR. Just got a JR8103 with a sysnthesizer about a month ago.

Have found the JRs to be just slightly easier to program and use, but truth is, the top of the line radios all are about equal in what they can do. Heck, the mfg's would be crazy to leave out any function the other mfg's have in their radios.

I found that I wasn't buying the Futaba servos back when I got back into RC and had bought that first Futaba. And I wound up buying Hitec RXs and servos because they had the specs and slightly better prices. I decided from that that I ought to try a different TX as well so got a JR6102 and was greatly pleased. Found out it seemed easier to program so traded up to the JR8103.

I'd suggest you look hard at the JR8103. It's a real deal. Has everything I've needed (but then they all probably do) and was only in the $300 price range.

Turns out that I've still been buying the Hitec servo's, but the LHSs have those big JR counter-top deals with the servos and stuff, and I've been buying JR receivers out of them. The R610UL Rx is a heck of a deal and suits most everything I've been building recently.

Take a look at the 8103.

If you are getting into helis get the 9CH, the switches are more finger friendly for heli flying and the throttle is smooth which you will soon find to be great for airplane flying as well.

I have two Hitec Eclipse 7's. Love them both, but kinda wish I had the Futaba 9cap simply for the model memory and the two assignable slider switches on the sides. Actually, all switches are assignable. That's a nice feature.

JR 9303 smokes the 9 CAP. I have had both. I now have the JR 9303 with synth module and its just a better radio. More adjustments, more fine adjustments, faster and more logical programming. The 649S rx is awesome also. For large airplanes you cant beat the JR 8611A's.

9303 30 model memory, easier to program, logical programming for large planes, ie. no master and slaves just left and right elevator and aierlon halves.

Oh yeah and I fly the Heli version which has the most out of all the 9303's. After flying the 9C for over a year it took two flights and a couple days to sell me on the JR 9303.

Oh yeah the 9303 has some much nicer features for Heli's over the 9C. Trust me it has much more adjustable features than the Futaba 9C. Then again this is a hobby where people spend thousands on a plane or heli and then cry about $300 more for an awesome radio. Go figure.

With that kind of thinking shouldn't you have bought the more awesome Futaba 14MZAP 14-Channel PCM Tx/Rx at $2199.99. Since it doesn't come with servos it allows you splurge on the most awesome servos you can find.
For many folks the Futaba 9CAP is an extravagant purchase and they don't need anything more.

Can you tell me what some of these adjustments are that the 9303 does so well over the 9C? I can't trust anyone unless they bring some facts onto the equation.

You can't expect an answer to your question that will make your decison for you. It's like asking which is the best christian religion.

I have both radios. Both are very good. The real question is, how good are you, and are you good enough to maximise the value/features of either radio? If you don't know these answers yet, then you shold choose the radio that you like the look of. Either one will do the job. Either decison will be safe!

Consider this, even if I gave you a full feature/functionality comparison chart four pages long, it would still not tell you what will be important to you.

Regards,

Eric.

Actually, I can use these radios to their full potential. I just hate guys that say "look at this one, it's way better because I say so".

I have owned JR in the past, and find Futaba a little more user freindly. I have sold all my JR stuff and am now all Futabab so that every piece of equipment is compatible with everything else in the airplane shack. (I have never owned the higher end JR tx, just the cheaper ones like the 4,5, and 6 channel radios) I do own the 9C. I bought it just after it came out in spring of 2002. I have never used a better radio. It is wonderfully simple and dependable. I imaginge that the newer version of the 9C (the super "S" ) series is even better. But as noted before, all of the high end radios by major maunafacturers are very similar. I would go with which ever one I had the most compatible equipment for.

If you've gat a good LHS near you, go there and spend a few minutes playing with both of the radios. Try programming things, and see how they feel in your hands. The way a TX feels un my hands has a lot to do with how I like it. If it isn't comfortable, I'm not comfortable flying.

Default RE: FUTABA 9CAP OR JR 9303?

Funny a lot of people who have the 9C have never flown a JR 9303. I will post some differences I just need time to go in depth with it. I have flown both. I dont fly the 14mz because a lot of people have problems with it...including some Team Futaba guys that fly in my area.

Honestly this is like the Ford and Chevy debate. I would encourage people who fly the 9C to at least try a 9303 or better. Trust me there is a HUGE difference alone between the 9303 and the 8103. I say that for both planes and helis.

Its funny that no one ever mentions the other options like the Royal EVO 12...ect. The nice thing about a JR radio is you can order it in any configuration you want. Say you want all 8611A's then you got it!

Like I said I have flown both. Yes I admit I did love my 9C...until I "tried" a 9303. Even the simple small adjustments are easier. Example:

Say you want to set your ailerons to have 45% Expo or throw each way...no need to select individual but the 9303 allows you to do both at once or independent with the at once feature as default.

The RX has each channel clearly marked...no biggie there but nice

Clear seperation for individual aieleron and elevator adjustments

3 flight modes all on one switch

Snap roll switch (air version) I have the heli so I loose that

Stick sensitivity adjustment

Really try to find someone who has a 9303 and try it in a good old basher that you dont care about or a nice plane. It takes me all of maybe 10 mins to program a plane from scratch in my radio with 3 flight modes, expo, EPA's ect.

In the end its a hobby and roll with what works for you what you like. I flew Futaba for years and years and always thought JR was just so so. When I finaly tried JR I was more than pleased and couldnt have been happier with my 9303.

I am no brand person so if someone release a radio better than the big "two" I would fly it.

I've flown both and I prefer the 9C just because of how it feels in my hands. Either one will do more than most people will ever need.
