Really any of the mainstream 50cc engines will fly this plane with tons of authority.
The BME50 is a fine choice, so would a Brison 3.2, ZDZ50NG, Brillelli 60, RCIgn Converted G-62...
All of these should build out to 15.5-16.25 lbs and will provide LOTS of 3D performance.

I'm thinking of pulling the trigger on this bird. Would a BME 50 provide great 3D power for this bird. I do not want to spend the money for a DA right now. What are excellent motor choices for this plane for someone on the CHEAP?

I just bought one. Always wanted one of these. Not sure what engine. I've had my share of issues with my DA 50. I might try a Taurus or ZDZ this time.

Is that because of the radial mount?

You'll need to extend the bottom of the firewall for the taurus. At least I would have had to for my TS42.

JOE
i was thinking a taurus 52 also heard a lot of good about it, the way i see it on the firewall would half to be extended about a 1/2 inch, that is if that radial mount is 4 inches round from what i have read, but it would not be that big of deal. i have had good luck with the da 50 i have, just looking for something with a little more power and little weight gain.
ENJOY!

Well guys, I thought I would keep you all motivated by showing another video of this Yak. and let me say this again, I am pretty new to this game (RC) so I am not good at it yet, but this plane just begs for rudder touches, harrier landings and rolling harriers, and to me, I just can't say no to that
oh my camera man is new to shooting videos too.

Great plane/Flying.
Any thoughts on assembling the Phenolic Control horns with Gorilla (Polyurethane) glue? I am thinking that the expanding property of the glue will be be better than the recommended Epoxy/ Comments?
Also is it necessary to cut the square covering & use the Base Plate? Can we just cut the slots & push the horns in?

you got that right Maudib. there is one bad thing about this plane, you would never be happy flying almost anything else, everything will feel so damn heavy comparing to her

I just love it! This plane flies so light on the wing eh?

While G-glue would be fine... just watch that it doesn't foam and push out the horn or misalign the two sides...
I'd stick with epoxy. Wipe with rubbing alcohol and lightly sand the parts that will sit inside the surface for best adhesion. Then coat the inside of the slot and the horn base with epoxy and seat.
Yes the covering removal and base plate attachment is important... it helps tie this area together and distributes the forces. I wouldn't recommend you skip it.
You can always paint or cover the area again if you want the "prettiest" look. Or you can paint the horns and base plates themselves before gluing... JUST don't paint the areas that get epoxy.

Has anyone else started building the plane?
I just opened the hinge slots in the wings/ailerons & noticed that they do NOT match up. It seems that the ailerons are slotted/corvered reversed. ie. The slots in the Aileron match the slots in the Wings ONLY IF the aileron is flipped upside down.
Does anyone else have the same issues OR did I end with a bad kit?

I guess I could elaborate a little more on why I don't like using epoxy for hinges. For some unknown reason using epoxy for hinges makes the phone ring, people come to the door, or my wife has an emergency everytime I start mixing a batch. Pacer hinge glue does not seem to have this effect on people.

I am not able to check mine just now... but it's always possible a fellow flipped the surfaces whe higing them prior to covering...
JRJohn's suggestion is right on...
I'd reslot the aileron to match the trailing edge of the wing... looks like just the four center hingeslots need moved?
