I plan on useing a Magnum .91RFS in mine when I get it. Awesome deal @ Tower Hobbies as we speak. $119.00 to my door for the engine with the 010dg discount code. I know I have bought four allready.

I just got a Harmon rocket for x-mas and took her up last weekend. It was great. If your not set with the RV-4 then you might want to look into the rocket. I only flew it twice last weekend. It is my 3rd plane also. I tried to do some aerobatic stuff but my knees were still knocken agianst each other so I didnt try to much but it will do them. This was my intro to 4 strokes aslo. I put a YS 63 on it.

Its just a suggestion

Gerry-

I believe that Mr. Pettit will be powering his RV-4 with an OS .91 four-stroke.

But you are correct....there are many power plant options for this airplane.

Enjoy!

I have an OS .91 Surpass II on the nose right now.

Here it is after only about 10 hours of work.

Still need to add receiver, battery, canopy and pilot.

That is the same engine used in the Video.
It will be a great match for the RV-4....and who doesn't love the sweet sound of a 4-stroke!
Have a great weekend guys.

Very nice pics pettit,

It actually looks nicer on your bench than it does on the GP site. I'm
really more impressed with the scheme now that I've seen it with a real
background as well as it being a good quality picture.

I ordered mine yesterday. I will either use a Magnum .91rfs or a Magnum .91 XLS. I have six NIB Magnums .90-.91's to choose from.[sm=drowning.gif]

Not precisely, would be electric or gas for me. I hope GP will have one in exhibit at the Wram show. I wonder how easy it would be to fit a Brillelli 26 in that cowling... If not gas, the electric conversion is easy to do as there is a lot of room, and planning went into the design to make it an easy conversion:-)
I hope to see Great Plane's 80 amp or bigger brushless controllers arrive soon to the market:-)

Both shipments to our West and Central warehouses are in route.
The Reno warehouse will receive the RV-4 kits first.

Is this plane a racer type aircraft, or is it more on the aerobatic side.

Neither. It's a scale model and it most likely flies like a full scale RV4. (Mildly fast and mildly aerobatic.)

Gpgrod,
So much for the shipments are allmost here. Tower updated there RV-4 add to now say on order instead of late febuary. It would allmost appear that Tower has pulled another one of there games to keep extending the date. I do not understand how Tower advertises items with ficticious arival dates. They have done this for years. It really sucks from a professional standpoint.

Test flew my GP RV-4 this past Saturday. All I can say is that its a "Gentle Giant"

Fast or slow, high or low, OS .91 Surpass provides plenty of power.

Lands at a walk and flaps down results in "throwing out the anchor".

Very stable, mildly aerobatic, like the full scale RV-4 is.

I Like It!!!

To MM37: The reason for the updated status may be that all the pre-ordered RV-4's were shipped to dealers, modelers, etc.

They probably exhausted that shipment and the next shipment is "on order".

GP-GRod: Can you back me up here?

I know my LHS has not gotten theirs yet (As of Saturday, they are closed Sunday)

Mr. Pettit, if you have it, could you share the RTF weight of your RV-4?

Please believe that there is not a malicious agenda tied into the release dates of new products.

To clarify...some of the initial shipment has been received here in the states.
We are now proceeding with our Quality Control process. This process, is our way of double checking new products, prior to them being placed in the hands of our consumers. I won't bore you with the details.

There are many other variables that can contribute to a product arriving a little bit tardy.
I can assure you that 9 times out of 10, it is a result of our development teams taking every opportunity to make sure that the product will be as good as it possibly can. If it means something is going to deliver to the shelves a little past its projected date, we would rather that be the case, instead of a faulty product.

Thank you for your patience.
I know you will be happy with the flying performance of the RV-4.

George

Gpgrod,
How close are they to being released. I had mine on back order with Tower from when it was first advertised. Are we talking days, weeks, months. Tower says they have not received any to date.

Hello Dave-
The first shipment should be released out of QC over the next 2 weeks.....at the very latest.
We have some samples headed to Champaign for immediate QC tomorrow.
The majority of the shipment is slated to arrive the second week of March.
We have not yet released these kits to the dealers, so your Tower Rep is telling you the truth, they do not have them for shipping out yet.
I appreciate your patience.
I look forward to you being able to enjoy this airplane.

Gpgrod,
So your saying Tower could be shipping some this week. I wish Tower could tell me where I am on the back order list.
