Thanks for the info Dick about the twins. My plane is coming in next week and I was wondering if I would have to split the cowl. Do you think an OS 120 FS is enough power? I also have a Magnum 180. Looking forward to your reviwe in RC Report.

RE: Hangar 9 1/4 Scale Piper Cub ARF???
Today I got my replacement part because of the door latch cover missing from the manufacturer. It happened to be the whole door and window parts with latch, hinges, screws and windows.
I put two flights on the cub today. I had my timer set for 20 minutes and the first flight was almost always at full throttle and after landing I had just under what looked like 1/4 tank of fuel remaining. What a great flying big yellow airplane I have had pics taken but not used all pics on the roll and developed them yet.
The second flight was delyed for some rain and thunder/lightning. But it was a good flight. The plane loops slow and very realistic at full throttle on the upside and half throttle on the downside and it rolls very nicely without rudder input (I have 35% aileron differential set in my transmitter).
The wind today was 9 mph in the morning and 16 mph steady at noon.
Pics coming soon.

With that one you have the weight needed ( maybe too much? ) and definately power.

outacontrol41,
I'd sure like to see a picture of that engine in the Cub. It would look sweet and have a lot of power.

I have a Chevy V-6 in mine and it works great. The only issue is I have to apply full up elevator to maintain level flight.

buch,
I think you need a bigger pilot or get a pillow for him to sit on so he can see over the instrument panel.

bucho,
Why are you using a Warbird Pilot for your Cub? I don't get it. Is it hard to fing Civilian Pilots figures where you live? The plane looks great. But the pilot has to go. Fire him and get a Civilian Pilot or just take all the Warbird stuff off him.

bucho,
I'm terribly sorry but from the picture I thought it was a WWII Military Pilot wearing a cloth helmet and a life vest. I must be going blind. I guess it's just the angle of the pictures. Could be I'm going blind!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Sorry,

OK guys. Looking good. It's hard to get the right proportions with a doll.
If this is any help, here's a couple of pix of a real J-3 w/ me beside it, and one in the hanger. I'm 5'10" and at that time -- back in April, tipped 'em at about 240. I didn't just hop into that bach seat the way I used to be able to do, and you don't need to ask why I had to wheel land it, thank you very much....-! LOL) A J3 is a pretty small airplane by any standards, but an absolute hoot to fly. I have about 350 hrs in the one my father used to own (NC98538), all of it years ago.
I had been at Florida Jets and stopped at the tailwheel School Tim and Peggy Preston run in Leesburg FL on the way home. Did 2 hrs in the Cub, mostly shooting touch and goes at a grass strip in the area. Then two hours in their Stearman doing the same thing. It's great to be retired and have the time to do that sort of thing!
