If you want Great Planes to bring back the Shoestring read here;
I just had an email after requesting GP to bring back the Shoestring. They replied with an apreciation and said that if enough people go to the GP website and request it then they will do it. I recomended they use fiberglass like the minnow so it would be better. So Lord willing if we all email them we can get the good ol' 60 size shoestring back. And maybee a 120 size also but 60 mainly. How about it, anyone interested?

I loved that plane. I had one for a long time till some moron turned his radio on at a sactioned event. At least I now have a minnow but there is no replacing that schoolbus yellow and red! I didnt figure I would get a response from them when I sent a request of an airplane. Lord willing we have a lot of guys to jump in and do it. I do hope they go with fiberglass like on the minnow instead of the older way. I liked it but some people had problems landing and ripping of the belly.

Hi Crashland,
You might want to post this in the Pylon racing scale section as well to get more interest going and the R/C scale section too.

Why don't you post a link so we can go direct to the place. I'll bet more would respond.
I'd sure like to see it come back.

I also would like to see it back. Got one with a 91fx. Flies nice. That yellow sure shows nice in the air. My dad said it looked like a duck going down the runway but he was impressed with the way it flys. My vote is going in for it.

I never flew a Shoestring, but I have seen them. I sure wanted to get one but as you know it was discontinued.
I put in a vote. Hope they do bring them back.

I'd love to get another one. I still have my shoestring, and it has over 200 flights on it, powered by a Magnum .91fs. I would have to say that it's STILL one of my favorite planes to fly and almost always goes to the field with me. She's gettig tired though, hopefully GP will bring it back. Heck, If they do I might get two, one to keep nice and new in the box.

I hope they do bring it back. The one I had was with a Saito 91 and it had more than enough power. I have the minnow now and I like it but I would like to have the ol' shoestring. I am like Rforce1, I will try to buy 2, one to use and one to keep. JNorton, keep a stiff upper lip, they might bring it back. Lord willin if we keep making requests, they said they would bring it back. I just hope they dont screw it up by changing the wrong things. But, so far GP has made real good stuff. If they make it like the minnow, out of fiberglass, they should have a winner. The original had landing gear problems if you came in hard. Thank God I didnt but a lot did.

Does anyone know why they discontinued such a popular model? I wanted one, but was too late, and so am currently building the kit that TNPC is putting out. Build thread [link=http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/m_6854851/tm.htm]here[/link] if interested.

I took a couple of years off from flying and the Shoestring came and went while I was gone. When I returned I decided I wanted it and was lucky enough to locate one NIB in a hobby shop in Texas. I should have bought both of the two they had, but that's another story. It made it's first flight, and then 5 more, today. My vote is for it to return and I have already made the request to GP. I had an old NIB OS .61 FSR so I put it on it and it has plenty of power. It turned some heads at the field today.

I owned a GP Shoestring, and would buy another if they were offered. I bought mine off a buddy who had a 91 4 stroke in it, and I dropped a SK 90 2 stroke in it when I had it. It was a real rocket ship! However if you really want one bad enough I believe you can still buy all the components seperately thru Tower. That would be an expensive route to go, but I have almost considered going that route on the Great Planes 1/4 Spacewalker which they still sell components for as well. Just depends on how bad you want one I guess. I have always wanted to build the 40 size Shoestring that Goldberg kitted as well. The problem is those kits don't show up very often and are getting quite expensive in the various marketplaces.

Actually you cannot buy all the componets for the shoestring-Tower never sold all of them-ie the piece between the canopy and top of the wing was never available seperatly or with another piece-I had to make one that was lost when the arf was still in production-
