Again here my list - feel free to add your own.
(1) Time taken to get into the air is short.
(2) They look good (at least for a few weeks anyway)
(3) They are reasonably priced.
(4) The enjoyment factor can be quite high.
(5) Some are really - really good !

The thing I like best is the convenience.....with 2 small children, my hobby time is scarce, so building kits really isn't an option.....if I want to fly........and with ARF's, I'm at the field 1-2 times per week.

For me there is a lots less pucker factor with an ARF. I have not spent 200 hours building a kit with a near perfect covering job, picked up all of the hardware and so on.
I can get the average ARF in the air in about 4 hours. I spent more time on my Global Ultimate, but then again I put my brothers Tower Trainer 60 together at the field in just over 2 hours.

I just purchased my first ARF (H9 Sukhoi), the thing I like is not having to have a workshop to build it. My brother is currently using my workshop to build his 31% CA Extra and I don't know when I'll get it back, I have almost completely assembled the H9 Sukhoi on the Deck.
Another plus is the short time it takes to build it, my brother has been working on his extra for going on four months now and isn't anywhere near being ready to fly. Meanwhile I should have the Sukhoi ready in the next week or so.

I like them coz I'm less gutted after crashing in to goal post on my 3rd flight like I did with my Hawker Hunter that took a year to build. Did it at the Rover factory in Cowley, you anywhere near there Zippo ?

If it not squirrels season for nut collecting then you need 2 be out enjoying the flying aspect of the hobby unless you just love to tinker with those 200-400 hour projects as some people do.

I go with low pucker factor. I enjoy kit or scratch building as much or more than flying, but it's hard to push the edge of the envelop (mine) with something I've spent a lot of time building. It's not hard to push the edge with an arf.

I like them best because it makes my scratch built airplanes that much more unique!

It's mostly the time thing. I have very little time to spend on my models. In fact if I get 1-2 hours a month I am doing good. I started my DPM Ultimate 40 on Christmas Day last year. I just finished it about 2-3 weeks ago. I have only made it to the flying field twice this year. If I had to build kits I'd never fly.
I hope to make the maiden flight on the Ultimate this weekend.
ARF's are built okay, covered quite nicely and are fairly lightweight. Some are also very inexpensive, cheaper than you could build a kit.
