There has been a note on their web page all day about maintenance being done.
How long will they be out of business????
I wanted to order some stuff today online, wouldn't dare call it in because that's to much hassle!
I wonder how much this has cost them?
Has any one else noticed the lack of items in stock like GMS engines?

No big deal. Call in the order or find it someplace else. What's the problem. Don't worry about Tower. The are big boys and can take care of business just fine.

Fancman,
No where did I say anything about being worried.
If you can't be friendly and helpful then why post at all?
Keep your useless opinions to your self.

Not really, but if you don't have stock numbers handy then what?
Couldn't even look up the stuff on their web site to get the needed stock numbers.
They never sent me a catalog either.

Tower being down is an inconvienance at best...................
but how can you tell someone like the OP to call in his order?............if he can't see what he is looking for, how does he tell the person at Tower what the stock numbers are for?

, but they save me a 45 minute cross city road rage trip to the local Hobbytown (toystore) which seems to always be out of one of 3 things i may need.
We call it HobbyClown around here. 20 minute drive to find out they don't have what you want in stock.

being that i work in IT i will say that there are just sometimes where you have to bring systems down for maintenance. there is no way around it sometimes. some places that cant afford to be 24x7 just take it down and work like mad to get the system back up. others have lots of money to have spare equipment to fail over to when a problem occurs or maintenance needs to be done.

f_shawn68,
There is a big difference between an opinion that is geared to help, vs. a rude opinion that's a waste of breath time and energy.
I asked some simple questions not to get a smart reply but to find out if anyone else was having trouble with Tower's web page.
I only threw in the line about GMS engines because they have been out of stock now for several months.
I also have been waiting on the Top Flight P51 which has turned out to be a big %*# joke.

I understand that completely.

Don't sweat the "noise". You asked a good question. I was wondering what Tower's difficulties might be too but didn't reply because I don't know.
They're a good outfit and I'm sure are doing all they can to restore operations.
Regards,
Clay

Well don't be surprised if prices have changed when the site comes back up.
Hobby Lobby has raised prices on stuff from europe, some things up to 40%, due to the euro vs dollar thingy. Their new manager, Jay Graves, was on over on RCG explaining the raising of prices for H/L, so I would be willing to bet Tower will do similar.

Tower does not "make" any of the stuff they sell. They are just a distributor. I'm sure they'd like to have GMS engines, P-51's, and other backordered stuff in stock.
If things are backordered they potentially lose a sale to Global or Horizon, assuming one of them has a suitable substitute in stock.

You don't need stock numbers... that is(partially) what the operator is there for. Tell them what you want and they will look it up for you. No big hassle.

and give this guy a break.........some people that are new to the hobby and excited to make their first purchase are quickly let down when thay can't place their order.........i still get excited when i buy from Tower, but i also spend in excess of 800-1,000.00 bucks per order and have quite a list of goodies.............i break the order down to take advantage of whatever the current discount offers are too..............but when i'm ready to order, i am ready.........not in the mood to keep checking when Tower is up..........this has been going on for a week now.
