I have the World Models CAP 232, I also have a Saito 91 that needs a home.
Any thoughts on this combo?
I was wondering if anyone that is flying this plane can comment on its ability or lack there of at 3D...can it be setup to allow me to learn/practice 3d with this engine, or am I wasting my time.
Thanks,
Eric

I have this combo that is three years old. Works great for me. I did a few mods to the plane and it has held up very well. New tail wheel bracket, one inch glass cloth wing center top and bottem, front and back glass strips reinforced firewall. I also drill several holes on the sides of the firewall and drip ca into the hole to harden the wood. New main landing gear (Hallco brand) and all new control rods, ect. I spraycan painted the canopy blue on the inside to save weight of finished pilot and panel. discarded the flimsy wheel pants. I did not like the center tank mounting hole so I moved the hole toward one side of the firewall and former-1 as much as possible (about one inch) . This let me install the battery along side the tank with a few pieces of balsa to hold it. Receiver is behind the elevator and rudder servo. I mounted my Saito 91 upright. Not the best for looks but I was in a hurry. I tell the guys it's a harley cause it looks like one. I painted all covering edges with poly-u. Radio is a JR 10x but I used my older 4731 servos instead of the digitals. Prop is limited to a 13/8 or 13/6 because of ground clearance. Hey...I would not use the "kit" spinner. I did because that is all I had in the correct size and it flew apart when adjusting the engine. lots of sharp pieces flew by my face. Lesson learned. First flights were slightly nose heavy for stability. As I moved the cg back the plane got lots better. Keep the control throws low for first flights if you want to avoid sudden snaps. Personaly, I would not want a smaller engine on this aircraft. I have photos around somewhere. Good luck

Yes, World models does have a website...but they're no Horizon Hobby...they have no technical support available...just what they offer...what's for sale.
http://www.theworldmodels.com
there's no downloadable manuals...just what they have, a few pictures, and that's it...
I picked up this plane from a friend who's moving out of town...he only flew it a few times...he was mainly into warbirds, so it sat in his shop. He didn't have the manual, so I could really use some tips...things like CG, control throws (I know I need small movements at first), things like that. It's a good looking plane, and I've seen where it's a good flyer...can anyone help????
Thanks...Steven04

I have a WM Cap-232 with a side mounted Saito .91 and a Tru-turn spinner. You can put the CG anywhere between 25% to 33 % of the wing cord. (I started at 25 and now have it at 30%) I second replacing the landing gear and using a 13 x 8 on a .91 with this plane. The .72 is so light it would come out a bit tail heavy, even with the .91 and all up front, it took some weights for the 25% point. I think I still have the assembly instructions if you have more questions. - Hope this helps.
Like most Cap's it will snap on full elevator deflection at high speed. (Don't go hog wild on the sticks and it's a cream puff).

Just putting the finishing touches on mine. I replaced the landing gear with a custom gear. It was made by TNT landing gear great quailty and price $22. I'm using a os 70 4 stroke TT spinner upgraded wheels, carbon fiber rods. Hopfully flying by next weekend.

Cool...could you do me a favor, and look in your manual and let me know what they recommend for a CG balance point. I have mine ready to fly, just want to verify that what I think it should be is what they recommend as well. I have it balanced right now at (what I think is) 27% of the chord. I'm just curious...let me know how she flies, too.
Thanks...Steven

Hi, I have a magnum 61 in mine and the CG is at 83mm from lead edge. It tends to snap over when i try to pull up to quickly. Is the CG too far forward or aft? Is the magnum too heavy for this plane?

a magnum .61 2 stroke(im assuming its a 2 stroke) is probly a bit on the heavy side, as for the CG is snaps when you pull up, i would take alittle bit of throw out of the elevator first and see what that does for you. if that doesnt help then move the cg alitte forward. try both if they dont work by themselfs. ive never flown a cap so it might just be the plane.
